Moto Flap confusion?

Roger,

In AMA events at present there are no rules about circling under a model with a motorcycle to help break loose a thermal. A flyer can do so at his own risk to the potential danger of riding is motorcycle around in fairly tight circles.

I remember in olden days some of the glider flyers would be on foot and take their tee shirt off and flap it to try to stir up the air.

If AMA events are flown at the same field as FAI and we choose to circle underneath to try to break a thermal loose for our events then would the FAI flyers try to kick us off the field even though we are doing it at our own risk for our own events?

It seems to me that this is going to be a real can of worms to enforce and should have been left alone to the discretion of the flyer himself.

Respectively submitted,

Terry Thorkildsen

as you may have figured this has become a highly political issue - as with most such issues logic departs ! and emotion rules...

Re: SCAT No-Moto Flapping Clarification - or how to get that air moving

Constable SCAT,

So no motorised flapping then. But that doesn't mean you can't do it on horse-back, right ?

Curses! foiled again, you have disclosed my secret plans to expand my Magic Timers business by opening a livery stable on the field to provide a retrieval and flapping alternative. It will compete with the Al Hotard Mule business, normally only at Lost Hills for the F1E event, where mules are a traditional way of getting to the top of the hill. I feel that a horse's longer  and faster moving legs will give my customers an advantage.  My spies tell me that both the Wasco and Taft High School Cross Country running teams have been recruited by certain well known F1A sportsmen. While on the F1B hot air is generated by the flapping of mouths. Again the family readership restrains me for going ito details on the F1C plans but I understands that they have asked the Sloans to order extra beans.

I think that sheriff would be a more appropriate title for someone of my standing and geographical location. Only the broad international experience of the the SEN readership would let them know that a Constable is a law enforcement officer not a landscape painter.

To Moto or not to Moto.

I know I'm not active currently but you guys are cracking me up!  Before you ban something it might be a good idea to come together and approve it's title... then ban it! All in good fun you know :-)
