Roger,

Please add this to the next SEN:

Free: Cartop model carrier. Large plywood box, 8 ft long, 4 ft wide, 1 ft
deep, aerodynamically shaped, designed to sit on top of a car and carry lots
of models to a contest. Free to anyone who wants to come to my house and
get it. Still full of AMA gas models, rubber models, CL combat models &
speed models, gliders, all built in the 70's which I also need to trash or
give away.

After retourning to Europe I still collect impressions from competition
in California.

At this occassion I would like to thank to all who helped me, to George
for advices and the reservation, and specially to Robert Piserchio for
unselfish help at my complications with the locked car.

Kind regards to all

Missing Stuff

From time to time people send material for publication and the article
never appears. The reason is typically because I over look it amongst all
the Spam I get. So do not hesitate to remind me if you do not see something
that you have written and it does not appear in print .

Fabulous Feb
===========

Traditionally October has been the free flight month at Lost Hills, giving rise
to the Endless October T-shirts. Now February is matching October.
Those at the Winter Classic have to agree that it was the best flying weather ever
at Lost Hills. Perfect conditions and a great turn out for the FAI and
other events. This was followed by the F1E events during the week.
The first F1E world Cup in the USA and growing participation in this event.
Then we had a great Maxmen with an America's cup banquet on Sta night. Recently we
have lost free flight friends, Bob While, Frank Zaic, Al Brush, Inza Hartill,
Bob Critchlow,.. At the banquet a special video perfromance reminded
us of our friends. One of the customs at the Banquest is to set aside a table
for the FAI junior flyers. This for the first time one table was not enough,
showing that while that the numbers are increasing, encouraged on by the Junior
Team program and the F1A Junior world cup.

As I rearranged my last belonging and nestled the gas can behind the
motorcycle, preparing to leave for Lost Hills, I had absolutely no Idea what
would be awaiting for me there. After spending 1 hour on the 405 on my
voyage down to Lax, I saw the familiar face of Jr. World Champion, John
Lorbiecki. As I shimmied his empty model box in between the guitar case
and cooler, I had an inkling that this was going to be a good time. How
ever, a good time is the biggest understatement that you could possibly
use when trying to describe what this weekend was for me. This was just
the start of a weekend that to say the least, I will never forget. From
the first minute of arriving on the hard packed earth of Lost Hills, to
the time where it was appropriate to begin my Journey back to reality, I
honestly do not believe I have enjoyed myself ever in my life as much as
this last Maxmen. It was not just one single characteristic or moment
that I had that has made this weekend so unforgettable, but rather, the
entire experience as a whole. Back under a towline with people that I truly
do consider a 2nd family was just a joy all in its own. Seeing kids
x that I have flown with over seas and across the states, also made this
weekend so wonderful. Being welcomed and smiled at with every encounter
that I had with any person this weekend also contributed to this grand time
away from "life". Remembering some of the most amazing people I have
ever met, when looking the slide show at the banquet.Lastly, I was able
to spend the last couple of days with 2 people, having the best of times
although from two completely different cultures. It all just adds up into
a time that will be forever unforgettable. This weekend has made me
evaluate my opinion of freelfight so much and has helped me to remember
never to take this sport for granted. Over the past few months I had been
going through a time where I had to decide how freeflight was going to
be a part of my life. For a while I was considering backing away, as school
has made it very difficult to participate. However as February approached
I noticed a level of excitement that had enveloped me. This sport
does something to me, that nothing else on this earth does. It genuinely
makes me happy. It gives me a joy that is not comparable to anything else
I have experienced. I know I am but a 19 year old punk kid who likes
to run his mouth(which everyone who knows me, knows is true) but I just
want to continue to encourage everyone to think about how amazing this
sport really is and what it does for us. A topic at the banquet is that
free flight might not be around forever, and although this is sad and we
will do our best to try to prevent our sport from dying out...just remember,
that at this time we are the sportsman that derive such joy from this
sport. Yes, it would be great to get more Jr's involved but, to my fellow
towline dragging, rubber band winding, gear screaming friends...I
have but one message for you. Let us savor this and enjoy it for what it
is. This max men was more than just a contest to me..It was an experience
that has changed this year, and possibly my outlook on life itself. Although
it is but just a few weekends a year, it is the best few weekends
that I get to look forward to. So to all my family who has continued to
support me, by giving me a floor to sleep on, a launch when I need one
, a screw driver for taking out washout, and last but not least, a talking
to when I dearly need it. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I
thank you for helping me enjoy a love of people and freeflight that is so pure.

Sincerely
Benjamin Coussens
