To All Concerned:
The National Free Flight Society President announced today that Walt Rozelle
has been selected as the new editor of the NFFS Digest. Walt has been
appointed to the editorship position when it was vacated by the current
editor, Chris Weinreich, who resigned after nearly 11 years of service.
Walt is a member of the Thermal Thumbers Club of Metro Atlanta and a long
time free flighter. He has been active in the FAI outdoor program and has
served on a number of NFFS committees. Most recently, he was the chairman of
the Nostalgia committee.
Walt is the current editor of Textile World, a trade publication, which has
garnered a number of prizes for its quality. Walt was also a previous editor
of the NFFS Digest in the late 1960's.
All newsletter editors and other correspondents should add Walt to their
mailing and email list. He can be reached at or
at his home address: 926 Argonne Ave, NE. Atlanta, GA 30309. Phone:
404-876-1268.
Due to lead times, Chris will continue to edit the Digest at least through
the February issue. Walt may be able to begin his first Digest in either
March or April.
I want to personally thank Chris Weinreich for his nearly 11 years of service
to the free flighters of the world as the editor of the Digest.
I would appreciate if it recipients of this email would forward it to others
on their email list so that the information is widely circulated.
Bob Stalick, President

Adrian,
A Land Rover may be able to climb the side of a Barn Door but it
could not pull the skin off a Rice Pudding !
Have a great Christmas folks,
John.

I just recieved this xmas greetings from an old modelling mate Ron Darr.
I know its not scat news but it made me sit here and remember and recall
all the aeromodelling friends I haven"t sent cards to MERRY Christmas
and a Happy New Year
I have a list of folks I know, all written in a book.
And every year at Christmas time, I go and take a look.
And that is when I realize that these names are a part,
Not of the book they are written in, but of my very heart.
For each name stands for someone who has crossed my path sometime,
And in that meeting they've become the rhythm in each rhyme.
And while it sounds fantastic for me to make the claim,
I really feel that we're composed of each remembered name.
And while you may not be aware of any special link,
Just meeting you has changed my life a lot more than you think.
For once I have met somebody the years cannot erase
The memory of a pleasant word or of a friendly face.
So never think my Christmas cards are just a mere routine,
Or names of a Christmas list forgotten in between.
For when I send a Christmas card that is addressed to you,
It's because you are on the list I am indebted to.
For we are the total of many folks we have met,
And you happen to be one of those I prefer not to forget.
And whether I have known you for many years or few,
In some way you have been part of sharing things I do.
And every year when Christmas comes I realize anew,
The best gift life can offer is meeting folks like you!
And may the Spirit of Christmas that forever endures
Leave the richest blessing in the heart of you and yours.

Dave,
If the new model is STRONG, i.e., composite structure, you could probably
use 4kg (I speak global units). But you would need a non-stretch towline
(rated at 20kg test, or so) with stretch of about 0.25 meter @ 2kg load.
If, on the other hand the new model is old tech(dead-tree wood, etc), you
probably need to drop the force down to about 5# (see how I shift to Old-world
measurements, for antique structure relevence?). The towline SB stretchier,
to prevent you shredding the poor weak wing thru youthful exuberance or the
odd wind gust; say 20# Dacron, or similar stuff.
Sight unseen, this is my offering FWIW.
Ciao, Lee

Hello, Roger,
Regarding Charles Markos' P-30 freewheel modifications wherein he drills
out the shaft hole to accept a brass insert, Hello, am I missing some
thing here? At what point does this procedure stop becoming an
alteration? Don't the rules state an "unaltered" commercially available
propeller? Apparently many of us old farts have a lot to learn about
this category.
Respectfully,
Mik Mikkelson
