Al Hotard

Randy Secor, Al’s stepson advised us of Al’s passing. Al Hotard was the creator of the America’s Cup, a competition similar to the Free Flight World Cup that is for FAI Free Flight competition in North America. The America’s Cup has been key in promoting FAI Flight activities throughout Canada and USA and encouraging people to travel to event further away from home. Al ran the scorekeeping for a number of years before passing it on to Jim Parker who does it today.

For the local flyers Al and his wife Judy are remembered for being kind and helpful to everyone. He always had a positive attitude, a smile and great sense of humor. The October 2018 NFFS Digest had a great picture of Al on the cover with his F1B at Taft.

America’s Cup so far + USA Jnr Team program

Six of the 34 Am Cup contests for 2019 are already in the books. Take a look and see where you stand.

We have  just kicked off the USA Jr  Team Selection program. Charlie Jones (Jr  Team Selection Chairperson) recently sent the USA Jr Team selection program to the 2018 Jr Team members who are age eligible for the 2020 Jr W.Ch in Romania next summer. In a nut shell the program consists of the best 3 AmCup scores which runs from the 2019 Southwest Regionals in Eloy to the conclusion of the 2020 MaxMen in Lost Hills.

The Jr Team selection program can be obtained by contacting me or Charlie or  soon on the NFFs website.  Scores are retroactively scored .

Casino Cup – get booking
From Jack Murphy
Hi Roger,

for the SEN broadcast-

For those planning on attending the Casino Cup over Father's Day weekend near West Wendover, NV- get your room reservations early (unless you are camping). There is a big car show that weekend and they say rooms fill up quickly.

Best, -j

Jack Murphy
