FAI Web Site Status for EC 2010
RogerLive on the Internet or too much info?
I have uploaded a complete and ordered copy of the F1B and F1C Euro Champs
results to the FAI web site at:
http://www.fai.org/aeromodelling/competitions/free_flight/ch10/ff10.htm
I will aim to add F1A some time on Saturday, depending when we finish

There is a huge workload in running major events, and most organisations are already at maximum stretch. The contest organisers main focus needs to be on running the contest on the day, for the people who are on the field, and dealing with the many issues that occur. And not trying to meet the requirements of a global audience that expects ESPN type coverage. Where will demands go next?, multiple live video feeds from the field, with instant replays of the critical moments ?. It makes sense for official results to become available when the contest is complete, when any processing, protests or other issues have been dealt with, tabulation checked, and all has been verified as correct and final.
best regards
More on-Online
Dear Osman,I hear the championships are going very well, and excellently organised.Well done on a great job done. Many Aero modellers from around the world are trying to keep updated with the results of the Anatolian cup and the European champs, however we do not see the results updated on the website. Is this something y ou plan to do online at real time during the contest? We would like to see the results as this is the only way we can keep updated.Thank you very muchDaniel RockbergerIsrael delegate to CIAM
How Important is Online?
David Ackery's note brings up 2 very important points.
Firstly that this is not as important as running the contest on the ground, so there primary focus of the organizer should be to do that. However as particpants we pay significant money to tqke part in these World and Continental championship events and the organizers do not lose money so they should be able to provide some form of online update. Typically there is alway a geek relative or friend who is only to willing to help. For example in Odessa Victor Stamov had his son help in this space
Secondly I see Dave's ESPN commentary the opposite way from him. We live in an Instant - ESPN World. The young people we try so hard to attract have that expectation. The fact that many people, young and young at heart around the want to know how the event is going is great, we need to feed that desire as part of the effort to promote free flight.
