Zeri remembered in Argentina
We felt very sorry to hear that Anselmo Zeri passed away, is gone a great aeromodelist, a very nice person and also an excellent designer in Wakefield and also in 10grm. He was always ready to interchange ideas about our passional sport, he compited between other constests in our World Championship l989 and 2005, in that opportunity he received the World Cup Trophy corresponding to the 1st. place in F1B that he won in the year 2004, he will be remembered forever by all of us and all the argentine people who knew him.

Rubber Rumbles
In this mornings pre-thermal test session a well known USA F1B sportsman got in excess of 110 meters . This latest batch of SS looks like the highest test yet on delivery from FAI Model Supply. It's possible that the altitude could be the result of serious up suck from the crown fire, but unlikely as that is some distance from the test site and any way the Governator says the fire is under control, almost terminated, even.
Note that for those not steeped in F1B lore , a climb in excess of 90m is very good and the ex-Russian, ex Soviet, ex-pseudo Latvian now American Master regards 106m as his target.
Note that I say highest test on delivery because the same august group on gum banders, which did not include said Master, BTW, have noticed with earlier batches [prior to '06] of Super Sport an apparent increase in energy after a year or two. This is in the order of 5-7 %. There was a change in the supplier of one of the ingredients back in '09 [same compound, different source] and it seems that the rubber since that date has higher energy and shows an even bigger improvement with age. It looks like increases could be over 10%. So that Jan 2010 that tested on delivery lower than the current June 2010 is now better. So this means that if you don't have your rubber for the 2011 Champs it's probably too late but you should get it now for the 2013, rumored to be in Turkey BTW.
We are curious if anyone else has notice the increased energy phenom with this latest rubber or is it some more California Dreaming? Comments welcome.
Junior World Champs
With all the excitement around the reporting or Not on the EC, the Crown Fire, the great gummi and the sports book taken by both Ladbrooks in London and at Vegas on which East European young lady would get get her photos the most times on Facebook at the EC, we clean forgot about the Junior World Champs. Particularily heinious we non-Euros don't strictly approve of the EC, so should not have been distracted by that trivial event , when this year they were not even in Europe and certain selected non-Euro nations get to go.. but I digress.
It's our custom to wish everyone at the Junior World Champs in particular great weather, wonderful competition and much friendship. So go for it or as our friends in Oregon say "Just Do It!"
We notice that the German and US teams have arrived, via Facebook, how else, that from the photos the weather and food are fine. We will caution Philip that Facebook is probably marginal with grandfather and Wikileaks over the edge. Wikileaks reports a successful on field session under control of the Cigar Supremo.
In the Press
Recently we noted two great article on the FF press that show some of us can write as well as fly. There is a great piece in the NFFS Digest by Jim Buxton about his hand launched glider record attempts that warrants reading. Fellow SCAT member, Ken Bauer has put pen to paper in FFQ to talk about his composite airplane activities and working with the new Eggleston airfoil. Ken is talking about some new work and ideas that also should be read.
I also noted as an example of masterful pre-event hype the description in FFn of John Carter's [UK F1A] pre EC gym work, 2 and a half hours a day, three days a week. The hype almost worked getting John on to the podium into third place. Pity the first and second place getters don't sub scribe to FFn. Ian , you need to sign those guys up. This gym hype worked better than the haggis hype coming previous years from the Edge of Beyond.
