Seelig for Sale
I have a new in the box Seelig DT timer I bought in the early 70's. I was flying Nordic with fuses at the time. I never used the Seelig. (Quit flying in 1976 and returned to RC sailplanes in 2000.)
I was told to contact you in order to advertise the timer to the SCAT mail list. The timer cost $7.50 new. Do you think $15 Paypal is fair if I pay shipping?
Thank you for your help.

Editorial comment ...
I did go back to Frank and tell him that while I was not a mechanical timer expert I though he might be able able to get a little more than $15..
At the risk of aggravating Texans, real or pseudo I do question those who use such devices and am not sure what's the best way of bringing your model down - a traditional German music box or an ex-Soviet area hand grenade. But for the Luddites who ignore the existance of electron, this looks like a deal.

Tangent Results
This is our story and we are sticking to it. This years Tangent Classic provided a wonderful day for flying the bigs and brutal conditions for the minis. The weather on Friday for the bigs was overcast and cool with good, although sometimes tricky air so models were doing three minutes and landing softly in the grass stubble on our primary field through five rounds. The breeze picked up in round six putting us across the road and not it a great place to land so we moved the line for round seven and cut the max to 120 seconds to make sure the models landed undamaged in our secondary field and over the "Ken Bauer" autographed high tension power lines.
The F1 A battle came down to max outs for Jim Parker and Mike McKeever to enter the morning fly off. Don Zink missed only round three and round two collected drops from Pierre, Norm and Lee. Mike and Jim put on a great show the next morning with Mike coming out on top, collecting the Wayne Drake trophy as well as top Americas Cup points. Note, the conditions for the fly offs were good early in the morning but would change as the day progressed for the minis.
Five F1 B flyers were clean through four rounds but round five claimed Jack Emery dropping seven seconds and Blake Jensen having a terrible flight. This left the three "Max Men", George Batiuk, Rich Rohrke and Marty Schroedter trying to make the fly off and all three did. Marty shot a test before the start of the fly off which did not look great when the model did not stay in the turn during power then stalled. Then he could not get the model apart to reload but stayed cool with George helping to get the old rubber and hook out. A few tweeks on the trim and Marty was our winner in F1 B with Rich coming in second and George third...neat flight.
There were three bone heads entered in F1 C all trying desperately to do something stupid. Ron started us off with an off song engine not yet warmed up resulting in a first round drop. Eddie came back in round two with an engine run that went lean leading to huge loss of altitude and a drop. I changed models in round four due to a cracked tailboom on my # 1 model, then short DT ed because I had not checked the timer since an overhaul, however, I had the least of the mistakes for the win.
Mini day was brutal with the breeze really kicking up and lots of sun creating boomer thermals for the light weight models. We quickly moved the line as the models were drifting well into the secondary and adjoining fields. Mark Belfield and Tiffany O'Dell put up max after max through six rounds. Mark crashed his primary model in round seven but stayed cool and patient with his second model and maxed as time got close. In the morning fly off Mark did not get clean burn through on the down stab line so the model kept pushing down after launch for a very short flight. Tiffany, on the other hand, had a perfect flight doing over four minutes for the win.
F1 H was another Parker, McKeever dual to the end. Both Norm Smith and Jon Davis had drops but Jon's was really bad giving Norm third. The morning fly off had Mike running after Jim as they both tried to find air and advantage. Jim found the better air to pull off the win with Mike second. Eddie Carroll won F1 J, and Frank Pollard F1 Q.
