The Bissonnette Memorial will be held along with the United States Free Flight Championships on Memorial Day weekend at Lost Hills flying site. Friday starting at Noon we will have the F1E contest. Seven half hour rounds will be held on our normal hill South East of the main FF flying site. Friday evening we will have a five-flight contest for any FAI Power model from 1950 to present. Saturday’s contest will be for the F1ABCP events and Sunday will for F1GHJQ along with the new Vintage FAI Power event.

Please observe the note on the contest notice about timing. Also, I would like to remind the winners from last year to return the perpetual trophies engraved and polished. Bring along your AMA models and enjoy the United States FF Championships also. The FAI events will be down wind from the USFFC events. Please bring a good “Free Flight Spirit” to the contest. We need to interface with our fellow FAI flyers in an excellent competitive manner and also the USFFC flyers.

We will have the parking area more to the East than normal. In this manner we will be able to use more of the flying field. The USFFC organizers are having a raffle. If by chance you have some kits / engines that you have no plans of using please bring them and make a donation to the raffle. Each contestant will receive a $5.00 gift certificate good for Sloans’ Food Tent along with several other ‘gifts” from the organizers.

See the official flyer later in this SEN

 More Anselmo

Peter Allnutt, the squire of Taft has asked me to assure Anselmo that he is working on his reply and it will be ready by 1 April 2009!

Even more Anselmo

Regarding the proposal by Antonello Ruscazio that the Organising Committee of International events supplies all the models, has he thought this through?

This would mean that every country that holds a World Cup or Championship event would have to have upwards of 500 perfect F1A models available (say 100 entries with three models per entry (including a selection of still air and some windy/thermal models) including spares for when models are damaged during trimming. The organisers would then have to repair and test each model when it was returned to them ready for the next year.

Then there is F1B and F1C....!!!!

Peter Tribe

[I suspect that the was a bit og 1 April in Antonello's commentary ..]

The 2008 NATS/USOC is scheduled for Aug 4-8 (M-F) in Muncie.  As the CD, one of my tasks is to find volunteers to staff the tables and events.   The FAI event volunteer supervisors are in place except for F1C, F1H and F1Q, all on Tue Aug 5.   Any willing and qualified voluteers will be happily accepted.  Please send me your shirt size, correct spelling of your name and phone number if you wish to join the elite group of volunteers.  You will receive a special NATS golf shirt with your name and volunteer event on it to impress your less fortunate friends.

Thanks,
Chuck Markos

More Hot USA Junior Team News!

Fund raising has been going along at a nice pace, but I think we just
got another jump start. Matt and Gail Gewain, renown free flighters
and owners of CST-The Composite Store, have very generously agreed to
donate 20% of their sales for one day to the Junior Free Flight Team.
This is a win-win for everyone! We can all stock up on needed supplies
(you can even buy stuff you don't need), help our Jr. Team, and get
some more free flighters familar with their store. What a great idea!
So here is what you need to know:
- the date - from 4:00 PM Tuesday, April 22nd and all day Wednesday,
April 23rd (all Pacific times)
- web site - www.cstsales.com
Just go onto the site and buy to your hearts content. It's so easy,
even I can do it!
All of the details on their web site.
Thanks Matt and Gail!

Kiwi Power

Roger,
Rather than put my foot-in-mouth any further, I'll just thank you for your comments and be the wiser! Thanks,             Bill Lovins

Bill,

it is interesting in that  some people fly older very traditional models and other such Roy Summersby fly a more modern style of  model.  I suspect that Roy uses reject parts from his FAI program. Being able to use modern components makes the models more reliable and durable even if there are no significant gadgets.  The NZ World Cup Contests are held evey 2 years, so come in 2010 to check it out.
