A personal note from Allen Brush: "We want to thank our over 700 good
customers, for their continued support and encouragement. You are
responsible for Tina and myself to progressively grow the product lines and
sales volume to more than we had envisioned, at our humble beginning. We
would continue our endeavor to supply good products at a reasonable price,
if it were not for aging health problems. We will miss our chats with
friend across the nation and the foreign customers we have been fortunate to
serve."
Please allow the new owner, Larry Bagalini, to give you the same service you
have allowed us to provide over the years.
You will find Larry to be very congenial, helpful and knowledgeable and a
person of high integrity.
We THANK YOU for your past patronage,
Allen & Tina Brush

Hi Chuck
You have probably had several replies to your query already so I hope that
this is of some help.
I don't know what bunt system you are using or what sort of models.
I will assume that you are using three line M&K system.
If so the most likely cause of DT hangup is the bunt line catching against
some portion of the hook or other internal. Often this occurs at the rear of
the loop used to attach it to the timer arm. The worst scenario is to have a
crimped tube as the rear of the tube provides the prerfect accident waiting
to happen.
The bunt line is sprung to pull the stab down and then releases for the
model to go to glide. Normally when the model DTs the DT line will limit the
stab to the required DT angle. If the bunt line is caught however this stops
the stab half way up. It is very hard to pick up on as it usually comes free
when the model hits the ground rather hard.
M&K run the bunt line in a channel that stops this being an issue. If you
can't do this then make sure that the loop in the bunt line has a gradual
taper so it can't catch - you can bind on cotton in a taper like tying a
fly. Let me know if this doesn't make sense and I will send you a photo.

Antony Koerbin

Argentine 2005.
Would anyone have any information if there will be a competition before
or after the World Championships, 2005 Argentine?. If so what would be
the dates, and would the World Championships accommodation be available
for this period?.

Re Ritz Continental I still have mine in perfect condition, with plans
and templates. Flew it in 1971 or 1972 to qualify for
the team selection program and it did! The one in the AMA museum is not
the right color. Jerry's was red wings, blue fuselage and a white stab.

Two motorcycles for sale in Lost Hills: Honda 70 trail, excellent
shape and runs great. This is the mid size Honda, slightly smaller than
a Honda 90 trail. I also have classic Honda 50 micro bike which runs
great. It is the little bitty one but will carry an adult just fine.
Includes a collection of sheep bones that my son Evan has lovingly
attached to the bike. Very effective in intimidating other flyers. Both
of these are in the storage shed at Lost Hills and I believe there is
one more storage spot for sale in the shed so you can buy the spot and
have your chase bike close at hand. If you need a chase bike for the
team finals this is your chance! Prices are negotiable, look on e-bay
for general values. I'm bringing a honda 100 as my new chase bike. Mike
Mckeever has been blowing dust on me when we chase and I have had it
with him, damn Team Stamov smart ass. I'm officially challenging him to
a wheelie contest after the finals.
Mac the I'm not eating the dust anymore Bigot

Got back to the UK last night after visiting the French F/F Champs in the
east of France the week following the Junior Champswhich and which were
similarly afflicted wiith bad weather over the three days of competition.
Spent the morning catching up on a long list of SEN pages.
P.m. will start to try to put together a report on the Champs from the 37
pages of notes taken at the contest. It should end up (wiith the half a
dozen or so illustrations) about 12 pages long in the next "Vol Libre" due
out, I think, in November or earlier as the July and Sepptember issues were
published together,I receiving both copies at the above Champs.
Thanks to all the competitors, helpers and particularly timekeepers who
helped out with information just after it happened as I could not be
everywhere at the same time.

F1G VIT
=======

The timing depends a little on what size the models is, what length the motor
run and other variables. All my own F1G models now use about 2.75 secs. I
found no need to alter the timing when I changed from 14 to 12 strands and my
ca 2.75 secs works fine on both my 12.4 and 14.3 sq dm models. If you use DPR,
you will have to add on the prop start delay time to the VIT timing of
course. My models are alI instant start.
The VIT movement depends on the Static Margin, related to the CG
position, among other things. Here are the figures for my own models, but your
s
may be very different. For example if your CG is further back, (Lower Static
Margin), the VIT movement will be less.
LINDA Mk 7
Wing Area 12.4 sq dm
CG 52% (SMS 0.51)
Glide Decalage 3.25 deg
Burst Decalage - 0.55 deg
Motor 12 strands 3mm Tan 2
Motor run ca 45sec (Prop Dia 450mm)
Movement 3.8 deg
Timing 2.75 sec
LINDA Mk 8
Wing Area 14.3 sq dm
CG 43% (SMS 0.44)
Glide Decalage 3.45 deg
Burst Decalage - 0.25 deg
Motor 12 strands 3mm Tan 2
Motor run ca 55sec (Prop Dia 500mm)
Movement 3.7 deg
Timing 2.75 sec
Notice there is a small descrepancy in that the larger model has a smaller
SMS yet greater glide decalage. I am pretty sure this is due to the fact that
the monent arm in average wing chord is less for the larger, lower AR model,
which means the downwash is a little more at the stab. This changes the
required stab angle relative to the wing to trim the glide.
Another strange thing I noticed when looking up my data was that my F1B
models have considerably less VIT movement than my Coupes. (ca 3.0 degs with
around 4.5 degs glide decalage). This may be due, among other things, to the m
uch
longer F1B tail booms and moment arms, (measured in wing MAC). It is odd but
this is what the figures show on well trimmed and carefully measured models.
Hope this helps a little.

F1A DT problem....

Hi Chuck!
I have same problem years ago-at that time I was using monofilament
nylon line. Beside tentional changes with temperature I found it had a
nasty tendency to drag more in damp conditions. So my first lesson-
never use nylon.Dracon is working fine and new spectra thin lines
could be useful.
So far I have to change lines about every year.
To solve your problem I would increase rubber strenght and if needed
increase also tention on bunt line.
Happy/smooth dts-
Javier

Just a reminder to all: the new NFFS online forum is now up and running
http://www.freeflight.org/phpBB/index.php
There are categories for all types of FF, including FAI, Nostalgia, and
Oldtimer. Currently there is little activity, due I suspect to the fact
that the forum has only recently come online and few people know about it.
Stop by and join in the discussion of our favorite pastime. Thanks to the
NFFS webmaster Alan Petersen for setting up this valuable resource.
