Version No. 40 of the Ian Kaynes/Peter King Flight simulation program.

I have found some time to update the Glide simulation part of the program to
include the facility to enter more complex wing planforms, thanks to some
great help from Bill Bogart. You can now enter up to six panel wing
shapes with various sweep back/forward. It works out the length and
position of the MAC to get more accurate data for the various Tail lengths
and MA's for the calculations used in the program. I have to check with
Bill, but subject to his agreement, I will hopefully be able to supply the
new version if there is any interest.

Roger, I was distressed to see in Scat that this green and pleasant
land of New
Zealand has been the home of a Societ mole called Malkinsky who
smuggled coordinates out of the country in an orange covered book.
This explains how Malinsky and associates the late Rootski and
current NZ modelling Supremo Sutclivov managed to sneak vital plans into
another orange covered book published from the USA.

But my main distress comes from a conversation in Lost Hills earlier in the
year in which I heard a confession that the man had been trained in his youth
by Malkinsky and later by a Russian only known as Igor.
I understand this mole operates out of Redondo Beach under the code name "Red
Magic".
Have you heard any rumours about this?
Lincoln

[Linc - I have been called a snake or even a weasel by the Luddites
and their ilk, but up to this point never a mole.]

Team Selection
==============
Author : This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I must strongly disagree with Mr. George Schroedter and his extension
of the Americas Cup into the means for selecting our national team.
I for one did not register to participate in the team selection process
because I felt I did not have enough experience to properly represent
the best the US has to offer.

The Americas cup as I understand it is set up to foster participation
at a multitude of venues and increase overall participation.
No offense intended to any involved, but if you look at the points that
were just published you will see that being a good flyer and attending
every single event can get you atop the score sheet. Do we want our
team to be made up of only those that have the time/money to attend
every AM Cup event to maximize their score.
No, I think that the people who represent us at the world champs should
be those who win the right in an open and fair contest.
Do not eliminate those of us with jobs/ kids/ lack of money, just because
our whole life is not dedicated to flying.
Ken

[Ken

I'm with you on that. In addition it is not possible to maintain the
same high standard of contest directing over 24 odd contests
as it is at the finals.]

Roger

I got fascinated by the recent comments about format of Amreica Cup and
comparison to World Cup, so last night I knocked up an Excel macro to
handle the last Excel 97 results file which was distributed. It is attached
as an addition to the sheet (macro amform) and it produces an ASCII file
with space formating. Within amform there is an option to output either in
World Cup style positions in the comp or in the indiividual points in
competitions format of the America Cup sheet. Sample output file also
included to help in case it doesnyt run on your system...

I hope it is of some use but never mind if not it was just a short
diversion for me!

Ian

[ Ian - thanks very much ! below is a set of recent AM Cup results
that Ian's macro worked on. The presentation is great.

- Note to Slobat: as a point of reference Ian is definitely not a
Techno-Turnip]

Roger,

Did you exchange BlackMagic lessons for u/c combat lessons with Weiler?
Didn't he tell you that you were supposed to cut the ribbon, not the
