Does anyone know of an active web site for the World Champs in Israel? The
one listed in the FAI site is unresponsive and I would like to know more
about reduced air fair, accomodations, bike rental and so on. Can anyone
help?

Who is going to the Spring Cup at Seguine?
I'm leaving Friday afternoon. Hope I see some of you there.
John O'Dwyer, (President, Texas Cloud Climbers)
[John, Unfortunately your event is the same day as another
America's Cup Event, The Eastern FF Champs at Ingleside, MD. So
seeing my son lives in Virginia I'm going to go there, otherwise
I was thinking about coming to Texas. But John please make
sure someone sends us the results.]
Little [former ] Soviet secret
==============================
To prove something or other I spent the evening a few nights back
at Norm's learning how to use his lathe so I could make some
little battast weights for my F1B. I fly mainly Vivchar equipment
and the hubs have a bearing boss on the inside. So a made a up a series
of weights from 1 gram to 7 or 8. These look like over size wheel collars
used to hold wheels on many R/C models. They fit over the boss and I have
a nylon screw to hold then on. I put these on when the conditions get
more turbluent rather than decreasing incidence. I was talking about
this with George Batiuk one day and he said "Ah the old Soviet trick" .
Apprantly some yaers back George had flown in a contest on the same
pole as Alex Andriukov and as the thermals had increased
Alex had said "George let me show you a little trick .. and produced
a little weight he added to the nose. Next year George was on the
pole with Igor Vivchar and as the day gets warmer Igor says "George
let me show you a little trick ..." Maybe that was one of the things
that one learnt at the Verbitsky school ?
