Odessa On-Line
=====================
From: "Victor STAMOV"

During "Black Sea Cup" (July, 14- 18, 2005) it will be
possible to see competition results in real time (only with 20
minutes delay) at http://www.odessa-cup.farlep.net/
according to the Schedule at the same web site. You also can
watch competition through web camera in real time and maybe
"fresh" pictures will be there too. It is our first
experience, please be patient if something will be wrong.

Thank you.
Regards,
Victor

Young French Flyer Wants F1A Help

I have been corresponding with a 19 year old French F1A flyer who is
interested in airfoil research for F1A high performance still air models.
I have come
clean and advised I have Victor Stamov models but realize there has been some
significant computer and wind tunnel work done by others, namely the Toronto
FAI group, notably Peter Allnut. I do not think Peter has joined the PC
Generation (unusual given his prior research) but I suspect others
can help Julien.
He is interested in corresponding with anyone who is working on airfoil
design, both with their PCs or with a wind tunnel, or with computer programs to
simulate performance. He has an "Xfoil" program currently. Sounds like an up
and comer to me and any help he can get from an interested F1A mentor would
help. He can be reached at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Pierre Brun is another guy
that comes to mind as a mentor. Although he does not think his English good
enough to post this note, his English is easily understandable over E-mail.

Thanks. Mike McKeever

July issue of Free Flight Quarterly is out

This new Free Flight Quarterly issue
continues the P30 theme, with a collection of articles and plans, which
include models from Australia, USA and France. Among them is a new
version of John Kamla's Marie, with ; new wing structure and simpler
fuselage, Jim Mayes' Accipiter P30, a fast climbing 10-strand design
and many others for you to enjoy. These is also a look at optimum P30
airfoils.

The issue ; also contains ; a report on the 2005 FF World Champs in
Argentina by the Ed., an interview to Evgenyi Verbitsky, the great F1C
flyer, by Gil Morris, ; experiences flying the F1B Welles, the DIY
substitute for CF ships from the vivid pen of Klaus Salzer, as well as
a construction feature of a Chester Lanzo Vintage model, the Airborn
Class B gas model from Tandy Walker.

Judging by the good reception of the past Special issue on P30, our
magazine will bring out in the near future other special issues, in
which we concentrate on a particular FF class.

John,
F1P is an FAI class for Junior, for Junior World Championship. But it is
still an FAI provosional class, as F1H, F1G, F1J, and as such, it can be
flown by anybody...!
The only thing with the Junior W/Champs, is that the power class for
Juniors at W/Ch is F1P and nothing else (NO F1C and no F1J).
Best regards,

Memories...

Thanks to SEN, this CL Stunt flyer has re-connected with many former FF
friends...and boy am I surprised to see that some of the "Juniors" of
those days now have kids of their own in competition! Back when I was
chasing Coupes and A/1s at Taft, Randy Secor and Brian Van Nest were
the kids. Randy was hot in 1/2A FF and Brian....well, young Brian was
instrumental in my winning a couple of Firsts in HLG when he ran around
"picking air" for me. Then there's John Lorbiecki. John and his family
were guests in our home (Lakewood, CA) prior to a mid-'70s USFFC where
we flew our tails off with the sole result that I placed 4th (out of
91...yes, 91) entries in 'A'-Gas with 26:31. Every other try of ours
that year was for naught, but we sure had fun! Mik Mikkelson was a
welcoming party for me when I got into FF Rubber Scale in 1979 ... Sal
was a near-neighbor who never failed to open his home for help and
advice ... Les DeWitt and Vic Cunnyngham were once my bosses at a So. El
Monte manufacturing plant ... the late Bob Isaacson taught me well about
HLG, and I still have the trophies to prove it ... Bob White, extremely
gracious when this unknown "hacker" twice bested him in CdH ... Bob
Beecroft sending strips of choice rubber to Kuwait when I was trying to
develop a world-beater Catapault Glider there (it turned out to be a
loser) ... but mostly seeing those "kids", now dads, having their own
kids in the thick of things. Although today my FF activity is still in
the future (Early Nostalgia Zeek under construction for next January's
SW Regionals) this site is a blast for an old fart who has fond memories
of "back when". Thanks!!!

Roger,

I wanted to mention that if any indoor fliers are interested in some May
99 or Aug 93 Tan II rubber I noticed that E-bay had some small
quantities up for bid.

Junior Stuff at the Natz

John, Am I correct that the Juniors are still flying Sunday as previous
years?? AND that would include the F1P event as well as Wakefield and
Glider; SOOO the F1P, flown with F1C is additional; SOOOOO that gives the
kids another shot at proving themselves; I am assuming. I think both these
events added is great, If you need help with trophies or I might award a
kit to the Junior on F1C day; what do you think???? Joe W
