Roger,
Our annual FAI Invitational (everyone's invited) will be held this coming
weekend in Muncie. The F1-ABC rounds will be on Saturday starting at 11:00
am. The mini F1-GHJ rouhds will start at 7:30 am on Sunday. A copy of the
contest bulletin can be found both on the SCAT site and the NFFS site.

Besides the FAI events, a full schedule of AMA, Oldtimer and Nostalgia events
will be flown. We had about 80 contestants last year, making it one of the
largest weekend contests in the USA!

ps....for those of you who are still using my 'old' E-mail address, please
note that I have a new one (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). The old one won't work because
it was my work address and I have been happily enjoying retirement
since June 1.

F1C and the World Cup

It has been suggested that the rules for the world Cup should be
modified because there are some of the results for F1C do not stand up
to scrutiny.
In my opinion it is not the rules for the Free Flight World Cup that are
at fault, since it seems that they work rather well for F1A, F1B and
F1E.
The problem is with F1C. This event has continued its decline in
support, that now instead of being an event with global support, what
support it does have is now located in just a few tiny pockets around
the world. And hence many of the events on the calender do not are
attract credible entries.

Here are some numbers, 15, 10, 7, 5, what comes next ?.
Think of a number, how small would you like to make it ?.
The sequence will inevitably continue its progression, the only question
is when the next change will occur, and what the next number will be.
(Gears of course will hasten this.).

F1C is what needs to change, not the rules for the World Cup.

Young Sportsmen
===============

While we be moan the lack of particpation of the young, those that do
equit themselves well. In the recent Tangent OR contest Dallas Parker beat
all comers to take the F1A title. On the same day on the east coast Lee
Wang beat the redoubtable Dick Wood in a flyoff to win F1B with another junior,
David Ellis taking third place.

From my observations at Poitou and US contests there appears to be a
special family challenge between the Barrons of Connecticut and
the Marquois of France to see who can have the most family members in
same event.

I think that the Sessums family - all young at heart have had 3 generations
with Herb, John and Tim all in one contest, can anyone beat that ?

Congratuations
===============

Congratulations to F1A flyer and many times US Team member Randy
Weiler and his wife Kim on the birth of their son
Evan Christian Edward Weiler.
