Contests.
To date, fifty-two of the seventy-two 2001 NC contests have been
conducted and 50 have been reported for NC scoring (#1-36, 38-
49, 51, 52). One contest remains unreported from early August.
See the 2001 NC contest schedule posted on this Web page for
details.

All of the races for the leads in the five NC Cup Categories
have tightened dramatically. Check the September 22, 2001
version of the NC scores posted on this Web page for the Master
and Summary Data Sheets that show full details of the
information given below.

In AMA Power, only three points separate the leader, J. Clawson,
from L. Pulley in second, while J. Arthur and N. Poti jumped
into third and fourth places, just ahead of H. Sperzel.

In AMA Rubber, C. Markos gained NC points at a number of mid-
West contests and claimed first place from the long-standing
leader, T. Bowls, but by the narrow margin of 11 points. J.
Kamla is in third place, trailing the leader by only 20 points.

The AMA Glider Cup competition has heated up. With a lot of
good flying, N. Smith gained the narrow lead of only one point
over L. Hines, now in second place, and by only six points over
B. Smead in third place.

In NFFS Nostalgia, R. Sharpton continued to fly extensively and
generated scores in all six Nostalgia Events, maintaining a
solid lead in first place. Also as a result of much successful
competing, K. Fulmer holds a strong second place, ahead of D.
Sobala, B. Cleveland and N. Peterson in third, fourth and fifth.

The Junior Cup competition has shown considerable increased
activity and now includes 50 participants. Some flying has
finally occurred in AMA ½ A Power but there have been no
entrants in Nostalgia ½ A Power. G. Malin has vaulted into
first place for the Cup Competition, overtaking the long-
standing leader, B. Avera, while R. R. Jones, Adam Marsh and E.
Simon, in third, fourth and fifth places, still have clear
opportunities to rise in the standings.

NC Report Forms and point scores.
Contest directors have been outstanding in promptly returning NC
Report Forms. This is critical to the success of the Program
and to the sanity of the scorer. Thanks to all.

Because of the massive data base and complexity of scoring, the
NC points awarded must be audited at least three times during
the year, making the posted scores continuously subject to
corrections and revisions. Auditing requires a minimum of 2-3
days work and involves cross-checking by hand of contest Report
Forms and the electronic data base. If you need information
during any extended interim between posting of NC scores on the
Web page, contact the scorer directly.

The United States of America.
We are all so lucky. Let's all give whatever it takes!!
