Hot to trot and muy macho flying

To SEN readers:
Sir Cowley sent me an e-note and I thought it was a private thing, so I sent
him a private answer. -He sent the note to SEN so here I go...
When I said lets fly 7 rounds in one day I was tempted to say 8 or even 10,
but in my answer to him down below is the reason for retracting myself.
Here is the sequence of events:
**********
Ernesto,
*- It's OK, I was just kidding - British humor and all that !- (but
wait a minute, what about 10 x 45 minute rounds, starting at 8:00am,
fly-offs begin at 3:30).- That would work !- Should be able to fit in
about 2 or 3 fly-off rounds before it gets dark, then break out the
Chem-lights and keep going until mid-night - talk about getting your
moneys-worth !
-- Biggles aka Marathon Man
Martyn:
-------No, ten is not too much, it would be great but just a bit unrealistic
for most of us. It would be distracting and wearing out just before the big
events for the Max Men.
I knew there was a bit of tongue in cheek in your comment, that is why I
waited for somebody else to give a first answer and BA came along.
I also thought of ten rounds in one day within 45 minute rounds, but oh boy,
you will need to marry a timekeeper to get someone put up with all that run
around for one day just before the "real thing" the next day. Timers would be
the complication there ! -Just an assumption...
Or may be I am just too old for that and I am chickening out :-)
Ernesto aka Buntelli

All right guys! In a public response to some private emails and seeing that
some few of us are "hot to trot for a muy macho competition" read this:
------- Since an old tradition is endangered specie now, no problem, all we
have to do is start with a new tradition.
How about the "California Flyathon" or California "Fly a ton" as the case may
be. It could also be the "MM International" (Muy Macho International, but
oops it conflicts with the Micro Men International ) hummmm........ Then it
could also be the "M B International" (Mucho Bolas International)
We do not need to set a new date for it, it could be an existing meet
reformatted, and if the SCAT wants to do it as their annual, it could be the
"SCAThlon Annual"
The format could be something like from 7:00 or 7:30 depending on the season,
50 minute rounds until we finish, and if anybody is left clean and mobile
flyoffs start at 4:00.
That could be both days both classes, or even we can combine (the combined
competition) to a 20 rounder swapping mini and big events, odd rounds fly big
events, even rounds with the minis, flyoffs with the big.
Towlines down to ten meters, rubber motors down to 10 grams and engine run to
3 secs. Flyers are allowed to wear only one shoe and must carry a 30-pound
backpack which cannot be used for flapping. No fluid drinking or food
consumption allowed all day. Flyers have to team up to fly and chace with one
leg tied together. For each drop you have to repay the entry; to stop flying
you have to pay 3 entries.
Come one guys I was just testing your attention span in this last paragraph.
Rambling congruently is the way to start great new things.
E. Busnelli
[Ernesto
Your epistle has has the mind boggled .. a few comments
A minor correction Martyn should not be referred to as Sir Cowley. Strictly
speaking it should be Sir Martyn, but really neither is truely
appropriate - Biggles is best!
With respect to the timerkeeper, I did notice that you are the process
of producing your own timerkeeper but I should point out that it will
be a few years before yours will be able help you.
There are two existing SCAT contests where ypu might be able to try
your new format - The Banco aka Bunko event organized by Pierre,
and Hector's Macho pool party. The latter may be too hot even for you
and Biggles but Pierre might be receptive.]
America's Cup
=============
December 4, 2000 Update
This year's America's Cup has had it's normal share of ups and downs in scores as flyers
have gone to more new venues in their quests for victory.
In F1A, Y2K has been a good year for Steve Spence, making his second consecutive
team, and we're pretty sure he'll win his first Cup. Steve pretty well locked up first place
with high scores in major contests. Fellow Texan Mike Fedor has locked up second
place, followed by three former Cup Champions, Brian Van Nest, Lee Hines and Jim
Parker.
Wakefield contender Dick Wood is awarded the “Bent Box” award for his travels far and
wide, flying and earning points at eleven contests! In fact, his point total is based on all
Firsts; however John Sessums is currently in the lead, having flown very well in the big
contests. Nipping at Dick's heels is Jerry McGlashan in Third, with Fred Pearce and
2001 Team Member Roger Morrell in fourth and fifth.
If a tight race is what you're looking for, in F1C Henry Spence and Bob Gutai are tied
with one contest to go. Per Am Cup rules, Henry actually is in the lead. Will it be
decided at King Orange? The third through fifth place flyers, Frank Schlachta, Bob
Sifleet and Faust Parker look on with their binoculars.
In F1G Coupe, Dick Wood's relentless chase has brought him the Cup, with points
scored in 14 contests. Only a first-place finish with at least twelve flyers at King Orange
can give second-place John O'Dwyer and, due to a unique scoring situation, third-place
Peter Brocks a shot. Roger Morrell and Bob Tymchek are tied for a distant fourth place.
F1H is by far the tightest race, with a mere ten points separating first through fourth
place. Brian Van Nest holds but a five-point lead with four first place finishes, which
Martyn Cowley can overcome with a basic win in King Orange based on tie-breaker
rules. Martyn has won the America's Cup F1H title every year that it has been offered.
Will he just stay in California this New Years Eve? Will Al Gore ever concede? Bob
Sifleet is only one point behind Martyn and could actually win the Cup if he wins a nine-
person contest at KO. Mike Fedor and Lee Hines join the rarified air in fourth and fifth
place.
Finally, F1J, where excellence is demanded to even approach first place. Bob Gutai
holds a four-point lead over Faust Parker, having registered four firsts. Faust's only
chance to win is a 15-contestant showing at King Orange to make it a consecutive hat
trick. It's a long shot, but you never know. Bruce Augustus is close behind with quite a
string of high scores, but not enough bonus points. Mike Roberts and Bob Johannas are
in a one-point scramble for fourth and fifth.
Once again, King Orange may very well be the deciding factor in the America’s Cup for
quite a few competitors. We wish them success and good weather!
Special thanks to young Dallas Parker, who has assumed tallying duties on the score
sheet. Maybe that's why there are no errors! Also, for any late breaking score
revelations, please notify Jim Parker at least before the night of the banquet. See you
there, February 2001!

Please return these perpetual trophies to me at or before the contest next
month so that I can display them at the next contest for the new winners.
I will have the new names inscribed and sent to the winners.
Remember, the next contest is January 6-7, 2001

I wonder, do you still get involved with CT70 minibikes. If so, to what
regard. I am interested in someone that has gone through the restoration
process. I am trying to restore a 1972 CT70 HK1. I would like to be put in
touch with someone . Can you help?
