F1E at the MMM World Cup
Some big news from the MMM Club: We have just finalized negotiations for an excellent NEW F1E hill that is only one mile from our main flying site. It is the Indian Point mesa just north of Quincy Road at Watkins Rd , due north of our main site. This is a drive-up site that has a locked, gated entrance.
The mesa offers outstanding slope-soaring in virtually all directions with about 100 feet of elevation rise over the surrounding pastures.
F1E will be flown in five one-hour rounds on Friday, July 13. The first starts at 10:00 a.m. Flyoffs will commence shortly after the fifth round ends at 3:00 p.m. All flyoffs will be completed Friday since it is the only day we have permission to use the site.
We look forward to seeing you F1E flyers here in Denver ! Don't forget that pre-registrations earn a FREE t-shirt!

Seen at Perris this AM , prototype of new Airtek RDT that also acts a locator beacon. The RDT Rx can after the RDT action "turn around" and transmit a signal that can be used to then find the model. Ken Bauer has been testing this on this DLG gliders where weight is a premium, I suspect it would be great for F1G too. On the DLG Ken uses a 20-30 ma battery so has some extra ordinary power saving measures, typical Airtek style. The beacon function is probably not as powerful as a regular beacon and is on the 900mhz range that can be blocked by severe terrain, however is great for finding that small model in long grass or heavy under growth. Also Batiuk heart attack averted by RDT - Taron and Sevak were out with father George doing tune up for the up coming the Junior World Champs. Not all that long ago US Jnr Team manager would have had kittens or worse watching some of the F1P flights so close the the event, but all was saved by RDT (Airtek RDT and Magic Timer). F1P looks great BTW.
* term to be explained later ...
