More on wet F1C ?
Why is it race cars and other high performance vehicles use water injection? There must be something to it. Granted, starting the engine with excessive water content may be difficult. But I saw no variation in running performance with varying amounts of water being ingested. Again I difer to the early morning and late evening experiences we all have had in realizing added performance. I have to think the higher humidity is a factor.
The reason I chose the aspirator method over direct water addition to the FAI fuel was that I could easily and quickly vary the concentration by simply moving the engine toward or away from the main stream of mist and simultaneously read the tachometer. Frankly I was surprised to see no variation. True, water may not have been approved for competition but it can be argued that water isn't a fuel and no judgment could be made. I would be delighted if someone would confirm or not my results. Gil

Hi Roger
I should be getting my planes ready for Sunday but decided to finally review the photos I took at Springhurst, Omarama, Narrandera and Dalby in the first half of the year. I hope you enjoy them. There are 135 photos in the set. Review them and put them in SEN if you feel they would be of interest to the readers.

Skyscraper Annual Results Free Flight Friends,
Here are the results of the SkyScraper Annual June 23-24, 2012 at Barron and Ford Fields, Wawayanda, NY, with CD Dave Acton. Saturday the winds were consistently from the West-Northwest, so we set up on the Ford Fields so that the longer flights would drift to Barron field. Sunday the winds were mostly light and variable so we set up in the center of the collection of fields. We kept the maxes for FAI at 3 minutes, though we did need to deal with field boundary issues for one of the rounds (when briefly stronger winds took some of the models to the Suback field on the other side of the Walkill river). Unfortunely one of the models landed in a tree along the river. A thirty minute delay gave time for model recovery. Subsequently, the wind switched to more favorable conditions.
Highlights of the flying include the max out win by Sarah Radziunas in F1B with Tom Vaccaro and Brian Pacelli were just six seconds back (their tie was broken by the timing of the first round flight to the ground as a provisional flyoff). Tom's still-air time was 6 minutes and 28 seconds. Note how strong the field of competition was in F1B, with Aram Schlosberg, Carrol Allen, Roger Morrell and Wes Murrell not far behind. In F1P Brian Pacelli continued his string of max-outs, as he prepares for the Junior World Champs (in F1P and F1B). Yuda Avla maxed-out to win F1G with Don Rousseau just six seconds back. Arnold Waldner maxed-out in 1/2A Nostalgia and Vic Nippert maxed-out to win 2Bit+1. Bill Buss bested Larry Pelatowski in a flyoff to win P-30 after both maxed out.
Here are the details of these Skyscraper Annual results, per the score sheets Dave Acton passed to me. Here (Jr) denotes FAI junior in FAI events and AMA junior in AMA events.
