JWC - miscellaneous stuff

The online final F1A score sheet  has been updated to show the correct order of finishing.  Reports from the field indicate a great day of flying with good thermals and corresponding downs.

We would like to commend the organizers of the event for posting  round by round information on their web site, even if the did get behind sometimes. Judging by the comment in the next para they were probably handicapped by the local telcom infrastructure.  For some reason I did have some problem in initially displaying the final results on my desk top. I had to refresh the screen to make it appear after I saw it on my i-Phone.

Our carefully laid plans to get a report after the even were foiled by the internet connection the reporter's hotel failing.

We did get a text from the field at 7 AM local time today saying they were waiting for the thunderstorm to stop before going out to the line.

110m Stretch

We did accidently caused some what of a stir amongst a number of F1A worthies with this mention of altitude!   The thought that Juniors might be getting 110M   when they had invested heavily in flappers etc and not breaking 100 caused some level of despondency.  Seeing these were hard core F1A guys they had not read the previous article because it more directly talked about F1B.   I'm not sure how big big Denis   and Alim are but second place F1A man Miles is a tall strong young man. So you never know ... But F1A men do not despair, remember that age and cunning beats youth and vigour even in F1A ?.

We have had a further update from the "official" rubber testing department. The altitude still holds but we mentioned that recent rubber, that since the change in supplier of one components in Jan 09 shows a significant improvement in performance after some aging. Initial indications were that this improvement might be really significant but testing and re testing shows an improvement of the order of 3 to 4%. This makes the current rubber probably the best Super Sport so far. Or at least the boxes we have seen :-)

Not a wise move, sir

Prince SCAT,

You would be well recommended not to annoy the Haggis Devil. You have been warned.

Incidentally, I understand that John Carter will soon be bringing out an exercise video based on his regime used to gain 3rd at the recent Euro Champs. I believe that thongs may be involved. A nice present for Christmas for the less fit sportmen perhaps ?

EoB

[EoB - the video will be welcome by some of your fellow sportsmen especially if it has a 110m stretch. Also is the thong and approved launching device for a catapult glider?]
