Arizona F1E Champs

The Arizona F1E Championship was held near Flagstaff, AZ. In the early morning of Aug. 27 at North Sheba Crater the wind was coming from the South. As the start of the contest drew nearer the wind shifted and came out of the NE. We then decided to move to Merriam Crater across Leupp Road. While at Merriam some dark clouds appeared and soon there was thunder with lightning to delay the contest. Then we had strong showers before the sun came out again. Just before we wanted to fly the sky turned grey with thunder and lightning so that we decided to try again on the next day. On Saturday morning we were able to fly 1 round at North Sheba Crater in the increasing wind. Afterwards the wind speed was above 20mph which caused a delay of the contest and finally the cancellation of more rounds. Because only 1 round was flown it will not count for the America's Cup.

USA F1E Finals Reschedulled

The F1E Team Selection contest on Aug. 28-30 could not be completed because of winds gusting above 9m/s (20.1mph) and unsafe retrieval conditions on all 3 days. The completion of the F1E Finals has been rescheduled and the Sanction No. 10-1760 reissued by AMA for Sept. 28-30 at Holloway Hill, Lost Hills, CA.

On 9/28 only if there is no interference with the F1ABC Finals (reserve day) then the tentative plan is to fly 5 rounds starting in the early afternoon if the general wind direction is from the North or the East. Otherwise we will finish the F1E flying on 9/29 with 9/30 as the reserve day. Hector Diez will be the Head Jurist.

Huron 2010

Here are the scores for the Huron Cup 2010.

On Saturday at 8 a.m. the wind was already in excess of 20 kph.  The max was set at 2 min.  A halt was called at 10 a.m. as the forecast winds of 40 – 60 began to appear.

Three rounds were run on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 10 thanks to Leslie Farkas, CD of the Canada Cup, giving up some of his contest time so 5 rounds could be completed.

To resolve the 3-way tie for first in F1B, the competitors agreed to use the results from the first rounds of the Canada Cup.
