Trauma, Victory & Demolition @ Denver

Well SEN readers, just got back from Denver where we had good warm
flying weather, I got my legs badly
attacked by some insects or poison oak on Friday.
This caused swelling, burning itch, rashes & little sleep going into the
comp which good & I snuck thru to win(bothF1A & H).
By Sat pm(I WORE my gators then!)big blisters were forming such that I
went to an ER for treatment that night, which helped the situation & I
got good sleep.
Thermals & downers were strong, but most perservered
thru the 14 rounds, which found George Batiuk winning F1B, to become the
1st ever to do the full 14 maxs score in the history of the event!
A very good, and I must add, difficult task to achieve
@ that site, especially.
My win came dearly: 3 crashes during Sunday's rounds, including my 1st
attempt in the 14th rd, which forced a quick rudder repair on my Baby
Al(damaged on Sat), then a ground-scraper tow- circle before launching
in great lift, landing 10 min later, 1.5 mi downwind, next to GB's
winning flights landing spot.
Pete McQuade was trying hard, only 35 sec behind me going into the last
round.
I lost my Minibone F1H on the winning flight---never
DT'ed.
Time for a new one again---any one have one for sale?
So lastly a word of renewed caution:
When in fields unknown, bug spray and leg cover seem to be a must, if
this episode tells us anything usefull.
