FAI Model Specifications-F1H
----------------------------
It has been pointed out that there was an error in the F1H specs as
published in the specification summary on the SCAT Web Site. This has
been fixed.
Note that the full rules can be obtained from the FAI Web Site
www.fai.org
On Line 3-views
----------------
We have been experimenting with 3 Views on the SCAT Web Site and
are leaning towards using Adobe pdf format. The Adobe Acrobat viewer
can be obtained free of charge from the Adobe site www.adobe.com. This
product handles the difference in size of the image between screen display
and printing better than anything else. We have the capability to convert
some other kinds of images to that format. We currently have one sample
on the Web Site , Andy Crisp's F1A as appeared in FFn and FF Digest.
Electronic Timer Politics
==========================

This ongoing discussion on electronic timers is excellent. It has answered
all of the objections and fears I heard expressed in Paris. Without direct
RC, it seems impossible to have an electronic timer serve as artificial
intelligence to give a competitor an "unbeatable" airplane. Therefore, no
rule limiting this device should be necessary. I have the ammunition I need
to counter arguements I will run into in future discussions with CIAM
delegates. I appreciate all the input and the barbs. I am the proud owner of
5 new electronic timers for F1C and would not like to see restrictions
placed on them as their advantages make them far superior to mechanical
timers. See you at the field with palmtop in hand.

Sharing Information and Participation
-------------------------------------
Bob, we run the Web Site and e-mail this newsletter is just for that very
reason. We know it is important to share information of all kinds about
Free Flight. The specialist print publications like; Scatter, Free Flight
News, Vol Libre and Thermicske all provide valuable sources of
information. We hope that this electronic medium will deliver the
information more rapidly and being slightly less formal encourage more
people to take part. All at a lower cost.
That means you lurkers out here sent you contributions to

.. and if you know FAI Free Flighters who would like to subscribe send
their e-mail address.
Correspondence
--------------
Hi, Roger: Hardly Brokenspar is frustrated that he can't get stuff
working on the internet or email. I hope you can fix him up, quick.
Please! I Am tired of sending him external faxes to keep him up to half
speed.
He pulled my leg a bit this morning by expressing concern that Verbitsky
would soon be shifting gears several times during the five second
flight-- the same way his BMW 550 does, enabling it to blow off
Corvettes, " foolish enough to drag him on "Telegraph road." Hardy says:
Gear reduction, OK, Transmissions, Hell, NO.
Bill Skything
Bill,
We are working to help Hardy get online .. and we need to encourage
more people to give it a ago and get online. All the current World
Champions are online as well as many NFFS and SCAT members. By the
nature of Free Flight we are used to trying out new ideas, solving
problems and getting things done.
In the Press
-------------
The most recent issue of Aviation Modeller International from the UK has
two excellent beginners articles on Free Flight. There is an article
explaining circle towing by Andy Crisp and a continuing article in a series
on rubber models by Trevor Grey. US F1A Team Member Martyn
Cowley, is remembered for former exploits as they will publish in the
next issue the plan of his 1970 Nats Finalist combat model Oliver Twister
- do you get residuals on that Martyn?
