Message from Mike
Just thought I'd discuss the upcoming Sierra Cup generally with some thoughts on Covid protocol.
I will be getting to Lost Hills Wednesday morning prior to our first event on the hill Thursday. Peter Brocks has graciously agreed to run the F1E event on Thursday.
I expect entries to be down from last year's 250 flyers (a little sarcasm in that comment). We will not have our usual contingent from Canada unless they sneak over the border. I also do not expect many to travel from the East Coast and in fact they have a contest at Waywanda on the same weekend. That said I have heard from several flyers on the West Coast and I am hopeful we will have a reasonable turnout of flyers given the times we live in.
There will be some Covid precautions in place. I will be available for sign-up at the trailer. The AMA forms will be on the table and pens available (along with sanitizer) for folks to sign up, exchange some entry fee for a card(s) that they will retain throughout their event. Scores will be verbally given by either a timer or flyer from a safe distance (6 feet or more)at convenient times throughout the day's event. (no need to report after each round but don't wait until the end). Masks are available at sign-in or on request and are expected to be worn in the event appropriate social distancing is not available. Please try to bring exact change or a check for entry or at least no hundred dollar bills. Please attempt to maintain social distancing on the flight lines (no poles). Hopefully we can continue to fly from the three lines set up a year ago for the World Champs, unless the sheep have developed a taste for our markers in which case flags will be used to designate the line for the events being flown.
I look forward to seeing you all and please feel free to call or text should you have any questions.

Just appointed editor Jack Murphy who says
The 2021 National Free Flight Society Symposium Team has been unleashed, I will be the Editor. I am calling for submissions of technical articles from the four corners of our world. I have an assistant who is fluent in French and Spanish, otherwise somewhat of a linguist. Send your ideas, charts, graphs, pictures etc along with a technical write up, though some literary pieces may be considered as well. All we ask is that they are original works, not previously published. Again, international contributions will be much appreciated!!!! More to follow…
