Hi Roger,

Is the lake bed wet?  Yes, probably unflyable if the meet was held today, but it is drying.

Boulder City resident Tom Ioerger kindly made a recon run for us a little while ago and while he did not drive his Corvette out onto the lakebed, it looks better than when he drove by on the way home from Lost Hills a few days ago.  There are already areas around the edge where the off road vehicles are churning up some dust and Tom thought that even the muddy edges of the wet areas seem like the water was pretty thin.  Although Weather Underground is predicting a slight chance of rain for Tuesday, the rest of the week's weather is predicted to be mid-80's and mild winds.  It is not the light showers that will set us back.  If there is another thundershower in the next week, we're probably out of luck.

For now, the decision is to proceed with the meet as planned.  We will check back again on Tuesday or Wednesday.

For the locals, next weekend, the same as the SW FAI Challenge on El Dorado Dry Lake, Boulder City, NV, the USA F3B team selection finals will be held at Perris. This is a Sat, Sun and Mon event.  So there will be a lot of R/C activity and a number of very fast gliders, certainly not a problem for the serious FAI free flighter because you will be at El Dorado Dry Lake or worst case the Railroad Pass Casino.
