Areas will be designated for different aircraft types.
We will be flying:

Inappropriate aircraft will not be allowed to fly! (ex. high speed and/or heavy craft) At the discretion of
the CD and organizers.

AMA membership is required of all fliers.
Sponsored Dates:
There are costs to use the hangar and we have tried to secure sponsorship for all days to reduce
your entry cost. Some of our sponsors (clubs and/or individuals) are able to absorb a loss, others
need to try and break even (Me!) so the fee varies. Donations beyond the basic fees are welcome!
The number of attendees are limited so it would be prudent to contact the sponsors and get on their
list. See their flyers for contact info.

Saturday 11/26 and Monday 12/26 is sponsored by the BlackSheep. Entry fee will be $10/day.
Sunday 11/27 and Thursday 12/29 is sponsored by the Harbor Soaring Society. Entry fee is $15/day.
Tuesday and Wednesday 12/27-28 will be sponsored by Norm Furutani. Entry fee is $20/day.
Friday 12/30 is at this time unsponsored, fee will be $50.

Location:
The hangar gate is located near the intersection of Valencia Ave. and Armstrong Ave., Tustin CA.
Access is restricted and the gate must remain locked.
The gate will open briefly for entry or exit at the following times! 7, 9, and 11am, 12:30, 2:30 and the
end of the day. Please! No exceptions!
Google Marine Corps Air Station Tustin or contact Norm if you need further instructions.

Air Travel:
The Orange County John Wayne International is very close. LAX is approx. 45 miles away.
Most of the guys stay at:
Motel 6 Irvine Orange County Airport
1717 E Dyer Rd, Santa Ana, CA 92705 (949) 261-1515   (800) 466-8356   (949) 261-1265 (Fax)

us know. There will be a port a potty outside. NO smoking or alcohol. Please remove any trash.

Weather was cold and very windy on Saturday and it was decided to hold the mini events and F1Q on Sunday. Sunday was warmer but still very windy. The first two rounds for F1A&B were 180 and as the wind increased the max was lowered to 150 seconds and finally to 120 seconds for the final round. Due to the deteriorating conditions it was decided to stop the contest after the fifth round. On a sad note Tom Kerr suffered a major stroke on the field and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and later medivacted to Baltimore.   Dave Lacey

America's Cup Update

Down to the last 2 contests of the 2012 AmCup season and  I think several flyers are making plans for Eloy and/or Palm Bay. Starting with F1A, Brian Van Nest in 5th place counting only 3 scores is in hot pursuit of Andrew Barron's first place position. Eddie VanLandingham is holding on to first place with a 100 point total but Bill Booth, Tony Mathews, Blake Jensen, George Batiuk and Ladi Horak can take the lead with a 25 point win. Faust Parker has a pretty good lock on F1C, Lynn Pulley could take first but would require a win at King Orange and I don't think he is making  any travel plans. Faust looks to be the winner in F1J too-- I hope he and Julie drives to the February contests so he can get the two  trophies home. Glen Schneider and Bob Hanford are one of the  ties we currently have. At this point  Glen would get first with two 25 point asterisk scores to Bob's one 25 point asterisk wins. The AmCup standing policy is to break only first place ties. Blake Jensen's 106 points looks to be a lock in F1G. The second tie is F1H where the leader for most of the season, Norm Smith, saw Mike McKeever tie him and then take the lead via tie breaker wins in Oct. John Oldencamp had a great start at the begining of the year and looks to hold on to the  F1Q first place position unless the 2011 winner can manage to win one of the last two contests.  Do you have to be told who wins F1E this year--- Peter Brocks.

My thanks to the clubs and CD that run the AmCup contests. Previous SENs have offered 5 or 6 AmCup sanctions. I have gotten 3 inquiries. Deadline for email application is Dec 1 2011. By thanks also to my AmCup pre-check team  but I welcome all correction.

Thermals, JIM
