 Isaacson Winter Classic Updates

Last minute additions and announcements regarding the Isaacson Winter Classic.
Since this is the Twentieth Anniversary of the Ike, we're going to revisit an old tradition and have free burgers and chips on Saturday night. Friends and family are invited! If you have something to share, bring it along.

New this year:
* Vintage FAI Gas, using the new 2010 NFFS rules.
* P-30 is going to be six flights, best three count (like HLG)
* In addition to the FAI Style CLG (in rounds, no rubber limit, 6" stick), we will also fly AMA CLG (Nat. Cup)
* Lee Hines is going to have his BTV (Beat The Vartanian) West 12" CLG mass launch eliminations.
* Bob White said we have to offer the Moffet rubber class, but we haven't had any entries! Let's see some of those hot rods, and if you're the only one, you'll win the Nuts (pistachios)!

All the other events are posted at: http://www.lhffmaa.com/events%202010%20flyers/WCFlyer%201209%5B1%5D.pdf

Still Lucky at 50 !

Nostalgia ain’t what it used to be, but it was in fact half a Century ago this year when the legendary Larry Conover became World FAI Power Champion with his Lucky Lindy.  But he was not alone, as four others shared the same honor, following 17 consecutive rounds with all five in the fly-off still maxed out !  Sandy Pimenoff Finland, G Guerra Italy (see: http://aeromodelismovolarlibremente.blogspot.com/2009/10/la-bestia-de-g-guerra-italia.html), Rolf Hagel Sweden, John Sheppard New Zealand and Larry Conover USA, were all declared joint Champions.  So, for those interested in this era of technology, check out the article published on the UK website SAM1066.org in their New Clarion newsletter, Jan 2010 issue, pages 9 to 15, which describes the rebuilding of these models with plans and recollections by UK’s prolific builder and flyer John Thompson, who was there back in 1960.  Scotland’s Jim Arnott has held a Cranfield Classic event for the past 12 years, limited to only to replicas of the five Championship model designs, in the Scottish equivalent to Holiday on Heather, known locally as the moors.  2010 will also see a 50 year Cranfield celebration contest to be held at the British National Championships at the end of May, when cold temperatures, wind and rain are guaranteed to be most representative of the actual conditions flown by the Famous Five.  For more information contact Alan Brown:  <This email address is being protected from spambots. Writer in Wyoming

I'm not sure who asked if there wasn't much to do in Wyoming...however that is a completely ridiculous assumption! There is sitting on your couch, lying in your bed, curling up with the electric blanket, lying next to your dog for his warmth...lots and lots of fun activities! ha ha...seriously, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, Nordic(cross country skiing) snow mobiling(are you sensing a theme)
