New all-carbon tailboom.

Hi Roger. I presently have samples of a carbom boom
that you will very likely really like. It can have a
big end ID of .64 (presently .62), and the taper is
.00964/inch. It weighs the same as the Stamov boom at
32". But is is stiffer and a whole lot stronger. The
big end can be squeezed to about half its diameter
with no apparent harm. I know that you cannot do that
with the Stamov boom. The material is all high-grade
carbon prepreg.

I'd like someone to eveluate this boom; and tell me
what design changes, if any are needed; and about what
the demand would be. I would really appreciate some
input from your club members.

The bitter note in SEN about the Junior Teams abilities, by Mark Bennett, is
not the type thing that should appear in this fine electronic media. Since
the youngest member of the Junior Team can do all that Mark has suggested it
is obvious that zero fact finding was used to write his bitter statement. I
believe Mr. Bennett owes the Junior Team an apology. Perhaps he could offer
support instead of bitter discontent.

[Roger

I was in a big hurry to get the SEN off before I had to get out
of town etc ... I also do publish items
that I do not agree with.

I agree with you that being critcal of Junors who participate
is very counter productive. I also believe that money for models
is not the gating factor in Junior participation in FF.

Supportive adults, easy access to FF fields, peer pressure,
other interests and demands on thier time have a
much greater effect on their participation of lack of it.

I am extremely pleased to announce that Mike Woodhouse, Norfolk, England,
has been appointed editor of the NFFS Symposium for 2005.

Mike has represented his country on numerous FAI teams. He frequently
competes at U.S. contests. and is also well known throughout our global
community for several decades of managing aspecialty mail-order business of
free-flight supplies.

I am sure that free-flight enthusiasts will give Mike the same unfailing
support they have provided to past Sympo editors. He will issue a
preliminary call for papers in the near future.

Hi Charles [Markos]
Thanks for taking me to Science Olympiad and the visit to your house.
I am now back in the old country.
We went to the field to fly yesterday in the evening hoping to have no wind
but it did not happen.
The weather has been nice but has now turned colder and some rain.
Fortunately it is only a 10 min drive.
I sent the same material about the A2 model to Walter Rozelle as I sent to
Lee Hines. Unfortunately I get no response or comment that they have
received the info. Most people give some reponse even if they are not
interrested.
They must be very busy or have a huge backlog of E-mails!!
Could you give me the particulars on the chat pages on the internet that you
mentioned for communication on freeflight? Maybe I could give the info.
about the model there.
I am including below my E-mail to Walt.
Have you been to any contest since we met?

I want to inform you about an F1A model design.
Maybe info about it could be included in NFFS Free Flight.
I have enclosed some info including a drawing in jpg file format.
I sent this to Lee Hines but there was no response.

Tropik is an F1A model for people who cannot afford expensive ready made
models and like to build things with their own hands.
Main designer is Lars Larsson of Sweden several times Swedish national
freeflight championship winner and member of Swedish F1A team member in
world championships.
It is aimed at people with some building experience or beginners under
guidance by an experienced builder.
It can be equipped with straight tow hook or circle tow hook and has been
testflown with these.
A limited number of kits have been produced.
The kits are very complete, with carbon glove, capstrips, polyester paper
covering and wingjig except
for glue and dope.
Circle towhook is not included but a straight hook can be included if
wanted. I have given the same info. to Vol Libre France and Free Flight
Quarterly Australia.

English, French or German can be used for communication.
I am an international member of NFFS.
