Fat Cat help

I have lost my key ( s ) for my Fat Cat, that resides
in Bike Heaven at Lost Hills.
The Honda People tell me that a key can be made
if they know the serial number, apparently to be found
stamped or printed on the body of the ignition
assembly. This assembly is positioned below the ignition
switch. It is necessary to pull the assembly up and out
of the plastic panel that also mounts the neutral light and choke..
The thing probably snaps into place, fed in from above.
Who knows the trick to get it out without distroying
the m f ?

Roger,
Far be it from me to suggest that a mere Limey might be able to
help on the Galeville case, but over here, when writing to government on
similar matters it is important that objectors and petitioners do not send
identical letters. It is the case here that such letters are regarded as a
single objection rather than several.
It may, of course, be the case in the USA that things are a bit different,
but it might well be worth advising people to paraphrase the letter, making
the same points but using their own words.

World Cup events in France

Thanks for Maxmen results. Could you please include the following
in next SCAT:
The World Cup listings for 2000 have included the Beauvoir competition in
France on July 28-30. It had been understood that the organisers had
requested World Cup status this year but it has now been clarified that
they do NOT want this status for their competition. In particular it has
been explained that the event this year will be run in the usual way, which
is not suitable for an event of World Cup status. Although very
unfortunate to change after announcing the list of events, there is no
alternative but to delete the competition from the 2000 World Cup.
Note that the Poitou event one week later (August 4-6) remains a World Cup
event as usual.

Free Flight World Championship 2001

Dear Roger
Dear Free Flight lovers all over the world
After my previous information in SCAT last 2000/02/22, it is with a
great satisfaction that I can forward you that Portugal will present is
candidature as organizer of the 2001 Free Flight World Championship,
next CIAM-March.
As most of the Continental fliers know very well, we are able to offer
one of the best places in Europe for F.F., near Beja. We have good
weather conditions also, good accommodations, good food and wine ( after
flights only ) and we are a kind people ( see text of M.Woodhouse in
SCAT )
After correcting some very small problems occurred during European
Champs 1998, we are sure to de able to promote a GREAT World
Championship for Free Flight in 2001.
We hardly believe in the support of the various CIAM Delegates for our
proposal.
See you in Portugal FFWC 2001
Best Regards
Jorge Gustavo

I was great at the Maxmen, thanks for the help in sorting out my
questions beforehand. We enjoyed the experience. What a field I'd kill
for less! The only thing that I need to do is get a bike sorted for next
time, this is a neccesity if one is to compete on equal terms.
It was good to put a few faces to the the names that I've dealt with over
the years. I recall flying in postal contests against SCAT and
exchanging information and photos with Craig Cusick nearly 40 years ago!
I've now, at last, said hello! to him. I expect to say hello again when
I return again in 2001!
Thanks again
Mike
PS. I'm writing a report for the "Aeromodeller".
[Mike
With respect to the bike etc - No matter where the site
is the visiting sportsman is
always at a logistical disadvantage. He cannot bring all the
support equipment or people that he would at a home contest.
Some people keep a bike at Lost Hills in the locked storage
area just off the site. If you wanted to do that you could
always advertize here and see if there was a suitable bike for sale.
Alternatively you could team up with a US FAI free flighter to borrow
a bike. Again if you did not know one you could advertize here.
While we did have a some wind at this MaxMen, this is not the
usual situation at this time of the year. Generally the conditions
are calm and it is not too hot. A bike is more important at Lost Hills
when it is hotter. ]

RCDT 'jump to' function
========================
Author : This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
All, especially Allard,
Well, in my opinion, the RCDT can actually be used for something. One is
the original reason for it's approval in F1C: Security. That leads me to
the 'jump to' function.
For most F1C models, it is necessary to be able to stop the motor well
before DT, else the wings will break if DT'ed in full speed. That is
also why this function is not just called 'stop motor'; it also needs to
get in glide position in order to actually loose speed if heading down.
I fully agree with Allard that cheating should be as difficult as
possible, so I suggest that instead of simply forbidding the 'jump to',
it could be so that the model must DT no more than 20 seconds after the
'jump to' is activated. And of course, the 'jump to' shall be
irreversible.
Best regards,
Torleif Jensen (MultiClass timers).

The discussion in SEN about the viability of RCDT leads me to believe that in a
very short time, there will be no such thing as a true Free Flight model. Ther
e seems to be a desire for more control of the models, and less risk in flying
them.
If the models are too expensive to risk, and we can't take on chance on what th
ey may encounter downwind, why don't we just cut to the chase here, and modify
the rules along the lines of those used by the RC Soaring and SAM guys? Have a
max time, bring the models back after that's done, and get points for landing o
n a spot.
No risk, no chases, no problem.
And no Free Flight.
