In the last fly off round there was just Risto and Steven left. Risto
followed Steven waing for him to launch, confident that he would out
bunt him and out glide him. Steven launched with a very good zoom, Risto's
bunt went no higher and the two models glided togther for a long time. Steven's
model was gliding a little fast [or so it seemed to me ] and in the
end Ristos' model stay up longer .. which it's what its all about.
Never the less a greaty performance by Steven, that flyoff experice
will be important at the Junior World Champs.

Great Contest - Great weather - great banquet
Our friends at Holloway had graded the entrance. The only
person who had trouble getting on the field was Biggles,
who did not read this journal and came in from 46 in the dark
and found a mud patch.
The weather on Saturday was very good and Sunday must have
been one of the best flying days ever at Lost Hills. Sunshine,
very gentle breeze, light thermals and geen grass.
Thanks to CD Tom Coussens and ,.. Pierre and Sylvia Brun,
Bob and Olga Wielhe, and Ben and Steven [and probably others
I missed] who helped at the table.
Brian Van Nest was seen getting Russian lessons from Vladi
in the hope he would remember which is the on/off switch
on his Stamov electronic model.
Fathers and sons - 1
--------------------
This was a turn around from the 14 Rounder with the sons winning
- John Seessums beat fater Herb and Steven Coussens beat father Tom.
Fathers and sons - 2
--------------------
This time its the other way around with a son bringing his
father [back] to the hobby.
SCAT member from way back Bob van Nest was out with son Brian.
Bob has not forgotten his buildng skills and figured out the
new materials very quickly.
Dr Bob's Toy Shop
-----------------
Bob Piserchio should get some technology export award from
the chamber of commerce. He has helped many visitors get US items.
One of the latest is the Bushnell laser rangefinder.
Bob has his at Sazena in the summer and it was the top item
on a number of the vistor's shopping lists at the Max Men. Bob got
e-mail from Cenny Breeman [F1A Belgium] saying that he has measured
an 18 meter gain in altitude with his bunt launches.
There is a new model out the Litespeed 800. Doring was looking at one
of these, they are more expensive, but measure further, have
more magnification and reputably can track a moving object better.
Dr Bob wants to sell his 'old' model so he can upgrade.
