SEN 1897

This issue was accidently truncated at the end of the F1A Euro Champs results.  We were going to add them to this isse but decided not to because a possible cause of the truncation was the length of the tect and seeing this issue has important information about 2 up coming World Cup events so we will hold that over to the next issue.  One or two people reported that they only got the table of contents.  This is something to do with your email provider.  the issue is online at www.faifreeflight.org.

FOR CLASSES: F1-A, F1-B, F1-C, F1-G, F1-H, F1-J
SATURDAY OCT. 11TH. F1-A, F1-B and F1-C
SUNDAY OCT. 12TH. F1-G, F1-H and F1-J, Tangent with Sierra Cup
 
First Flight Duration:    F1-A   210 Seconds, F1-B   240 Seconds, F1-C   240 Seconds

-7- One hour rounds starting at 08:00 hours

 
Fly-Offs will start at 4:30 PM “FIRM” as schedule, BRING YOUR TIMER !!
Saturday: F1-A = 4:30 to 4:40 ** F1-B = 4:45 to 4:55 ** F1-C = 5:00 to 5:10

                      “        5:15 to 5:25        “        5:30 to 5:40          “       5:45 to 5:55

Weather permitting, otherwise Sunday at 7:15 for a 10 min. flight

 

F1-G, F1-H and F1-J, Sunday October 12th. 2014 Tangent with Sierra Cup

1st. flight ONLY, for all Mini events will TIMED TO THE GROUND for this contest

Starting at 7:30 to 8:15 hours fallowed by -5- flights of 2 minutes, all rounds 1st 45 min. for  each round for this contest. 2nd 45 min. for the Sierra Cup contest

1st flight will be used as FLY-OFF flight and added to all Maxed flights results

 

***There will be NO timers provided, please find someone to fly and time with you***

 

Awards ceremony on both days after the last Fly-Off flight

 
Crystal Trophies to winners for all events

Medals to 1st. place for all big FAI , Certificates for 2nd. and 3rd place

FAI International Free Flight Contest
October 12-14, 2014
A World and America’s Cup Event

Schedule of Events:

Sunday, October 12 Mini Events F1G, F1H, and F1P/J
Five 45 minute rounds starting at 9 AM and sharing a 2nd contest with Livotto Minis.
(Juan’s Minis are first to fly at 8:15 in 45 minutes rounds-so two flights every 1 1/2 hour
with 45 minute rounds for each contest). Rounds may be lengthened if required. Sierra
Cup flies second flight each round. Fly Offs following round 5. BBQ follows flying on
Sunday on the field-free with entry.

Monday, October 13 F1A, F1B, F1C and F1Q
Seven 1-hour rounds starting at 8AM. Fly Offs start will be posted after Round 7.

Tuesday, October 14 Reserve Day
Potential morning Fly Offs for previous days events starting at 7 AM with 10 minute or
more max as well as reserve day due to previous bad weather.

The contest will be run to current 2014 FAI rules and maxes. No moto-flapping.
No timers are provided. FAI Stamp should be shown at registration. F1C fuel not
provided so BYOF for F1C.

Any single event (Mini or Maxi) $45
One “Mini” event and one “Maxi” event $60
Entry includes banquet- extra banquet $20 each

Entries to be received with check payable to SCAT before Wednesday October 8. If you
request to be on a pole with someone, I would suggest entry by mail before October 8th.
Non-US competitors may advise of entry before October 8 and pay at the field.

The report from Leigh Morgan is very informative, giving us a westerner's
perspective. Chimed Ganzorig of MASA Mongolia also wrote an informative
report for the 2014 Sympo, and MASA Mongolia reports contest results and
other F/F related activities quite regularly on Facebook.

 A couple of additional comments. I did some reading about Mongolia, one which I found useful was Tim Cope’s book Ón the Trail of Genghis Khan, another was ‘The Silk Road’ by Colin Falconer, and of course the Lonely Planet ‘Mongolia”.  My interest in Mongolia started a few years ago after seeing a Mongolian film called ‘’The Tears of the Camel’’. It is set in the flying field area. It is an old film, and might be hard to get hold of now. Learning a bit of Mongolian would be useful, I felt it was poor on my part, that I had not done this.
