World Cup bonus point counting.
Welcome to Aram's suggestion of World Cup counting. I still prefer the
proposal which the CIAM FFSC made in 2013 that the numbers counted for bonus
points were the number of people making flights in the first round. This had
the benefits of
- Simplicity.
- Gave the number available for all to see after the end of the
first round.
- Gave full credit to the winner if the weather deteriorated and
lots of people stopped flying
- Avoided the possibility of people who have dropped flights
changing the bonus point situation by choosing to stop flying
- Avoided the possibility of late entries during the event changing
the number. (Note that the late entry issue was not a problem in Israel with
all entries made the day before).
However, at the 2013 Technical Meeting Wilhelm Kamp opposed the change as
being only relevant in a few cases and the meeting did not give majority
support.

Dear Roger,
Re SEN 1943, DG and F1C.
I've been involved in F1C since 1957 (the year of my birth!), and I've seen all that Doug described.
He has it right IMO. His suggestions open up the class, rather than closing it down, which is what all the rule changes have done since 1952.
If someone is prepared to frame up the DG rules 'addendum' and put it in the contest schedule, I'm in, I'll fly.
I'll help with developing the rules too, if it'll help.

From the second to youngest F1C flyer in the USA? (We think that Taron is the only F1C person the USA younger than Jeff, and other takers ? or has Cody flown some C ?)
I haven't been flying as long as everyone, that I know in FAI. I have seen good and bad decisions along the way.
I have been taking in all the info. Reading the different solutions. Is there a perfect solution? Who to say.
Evolution is a process we can not stop. Being able to evolve, is what we must do.
Simple fact is that the numbers are down. Can't find a lot of people to run contests. Performence of models is up.
If there is something that needs to be changed, we shouldn't try and go backwards. If they want shorter contests, give it to them.
Option 1. The higher max for each round, is a good idea.
Option 2. Make it five rounds or six, then off to the fly offs.
At the end of the day, we all love to fly. If they want to change all the rules, to try and reinvent the sport. I would have leave it. I am a working man with a family to support. End of story.
I hope this does not happen.
