France Flash

Yesterday was the opening ceremony.  Procession through the village of Moncontour with much support and interest from the residents and many visitors.  Usual speeches from local modelling types and politicians.  Kudos to organizers for getting outstanding community and regional support.  Excellent local singing and dancing entertinment plus drinks and nibbles on the commune of Moncontour. Event declared open by Ian kaynes representing the FAI and sportsman oath by Per Findahl in English and Bernard Marquois in French.

Training on the field seems to be going well all round.  Excellent weather over the last 3 days, dead calm in the morning with the wind rising a little in the PM but very flyable. No excuses from getting the models up to snuff.  All the wheat and mustard hear the flight line seems to have been harvested.

Processing has been going on over these 3 days in an air of comparative calm in the local Gymnasium.
.

There have been a few people with airline missing bag horror stories. Noteably Walh Ghio from the USA and some Argentinian F1Bs.  Walt' got all his models and settled in OK, if you ply him with a beer he may be persuaded to recount it.

People are talking with friends and availaing themselves of the local tourist and gourmet sites.  The Office of tourism of Moncontour gives excellent  tours of the 11 century Donjon in the center town in French, English and Spanish.

Tomorrow action starts in earnest with F1A.

It just hit me!  Absolute kudos to William Booth for his F1B and F1G French Feat(s) and of course to the timers who kept track of that 720 posting in the FlyOff, equally Fantastic stuff.
