Norm Smith Update

Roger would you please post this for me.

Norm Smith is home from rehab after his neck surgery.  That is the good news.  The bad news is he needs more surgery to relieve the pressure on his spinal cord.  The first surgery didn’t completely solve his mobility problem.  He is going to University of California San Francisco (teaching hospital) on September 26 and should be hospitalized for about three days.  His doctor is an Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery and has been elected by his peers as one of the Best Doctors in America.  We have high hopes to be back flying by November.  Thank you for all your cards and well wishes.
  Merry

F1B assistance at the Finals

Would any of you F1B flyers like to have an assistant at the TS Finals?  There will be a young man in attendance who flies rubber (including FAI) and is very interested in the Jr. FAI program.  His name is Jace Pivonka and he is a very serious 13 year old.  The Finals offers him an opportunity to see state-of-the-art F1B preparation, thermal picking, flying, and contest strategy.  Ideally, he would like to offer his assistance in exchange for observing and learning from an experienced F1B flyer.  Please let me know off-line if you would be interested in the help of an assistant.  Thanks.

Americas Cup Update

End of Summer 2012 AmCup Results,

Steve Spence  in F1A  and Eddy Vanlandingham in F1B  lead with 100 points-- they'll need to win a contest with some bonus points or the pack behind  may catch them. F1C is still wide open. F1P  has a tie  between Glen Schneider and Bob Hanford-- bonus points are not common so this may turn into a who wins the most contests tie breaker. Tiffany O'Dell is looking good with her 106 points but we'll see if the Fall contests have enough bonus points for those trying to track her down.  Mike McKeever  and Faust Parker have 100 points in F1H and F1J may be in the  similar situation as the F1P  guys in that there may not be any more bonus point contests left this year for anyone to over take them.  Now Julie Parker won some bonus points in F1Q, 102 points so her lead is looking pretty good. In F1E the Peter Brocks has the lead-- as usual.
