Hotels for MMM 14 Rounder

Denver area hotels have made major increases in the prices in an attempt to recoup their losses in the down economy.

We had a rate of $49.99 + tax at the Extended Stay Delux hotel (303-337-7000) last year and now they are asking $58.00 + tax for the same two bed room.  That is an increase of 16%!  Seems a little high to me but that is the best offer we could come up with even though they are offering comperable prices on their web site.  With promo code FME20 you will receive $20 off the bill when checking out.  The senior room rate shown on the web site for two double beds is $70.29 and a single queen room is $60.79.  As you can see the promo code can save you some money over the MMM rate if you are in for a single queen room while the MMM rate is better for a two bed room. The manager of the hotel told me that because of several softball tournaments at that time rooms are filling quickly. If you want to try forthe web rate you need to do so quickly. They don't have namy rooms at this rate.

There is another choice in hotels near by that is offering us a MMM rate of $47.49 +tax per night.  That hotel is the Homested Studio Suites located at 13941 E. Havard St in Aurora. Phone is 303-750-9116. This hotel is less than a mile away from the Ectended Stay Suites.  They have 6 rooms for us at this price so again you need to book early.  Ask for the Magnificent Mountain Men rate when you call for your reservation.

I made my reservation there Thursday morning.

More Mark Input

My thoughts,
I takes a certain kinda modeler to like free flight, its like art, it takes someone who likes delicate models, the gracefulness of the lines of the models design, someone who enjoys the great outdoors, enjoys watching the model float by in a low thermal and the "chase". Sometimes the chase is half the fun, to see where it comes down and how far it went. Finding a young person that might like that kinda stuff might be tough. Marks ideas on a two half day contest is ok to get people out during the hot summer and it's a place to start but we need to go further, like leveling the playing field.
Depending on the individual either start out with P-30's or simple F1G's like maybe winterhawks, (I have two I can donate) or Bob Whites Beau Coupe, and if they want to start in F1B's keep it simple, like start out with Vivchar's Prima or the Burdov Super starter (simple) then at a contest (and I hate saying this) keep the heavy weighs out, like the Andrukov's, Batiuks, Jensen's, Tymchek's (you know the ones that always win) cause for someone new its nice to know that you can win once in a while and still keep the FUN in it, let the old guys mentor then let them work on getting as good as the old timers. At a later date put them all in the same basket and work on beating the big boys. On a personal thought you ever notice it's the same bunch of OLD guys for the last decade or longer that always make the team.
