JWC - F1B Report from the USA Team

F1B

Arrived at field in a down pour thunderstorm, high winds, port-a-potties blown over, tents blown

 down. The first round was delayed 2 hours, with no extended max, due to winds. But for the rest of the day, wind was tolerable for flying.
Round 1: Brian flew first, with a max. Brede and Sevak followed with maxes.
Round 2: Brian and Brede maxed. Sevak flew 155".
Round 3: USA has 3 maxes.
Round 4: Brian and Brede maxed. Sevak's model still having some issues.
Round 5: USA has 3 maxes.
Round 6: 3 maxes again.
Round 7: 3 maxes.

In the fly off, Brian and Brede both broke their first motors while winding. Brian got his flight off well within the 10 minute window. I did not see it, but understand the timers  lost sight of it at 4'50" when it flew out of sight of the timers. In Brede's first fly-off ever, he faced some nerve wracking obstacles. A wound motor stuck in his fuselage and then dislodged in a miraculous feat by team supporters. He made it up in the nick of time and flew 4'18 seconds (I think).

Germany takes team first place with 3 clean flyers.

Aug 2010 AmCup Results and Finals Timer request

How time flies and I don't during a home remodel!  Sorry for the lapse in AmCup results. Here are the latest results,  13 contests recorded-- nearing the half way mark. There are a couple strong starts but as we know from the past, first place can change up to the last flight at  the King Orange.  Thanks to my checkers that provided corrections to these results.

SCAT is hosting the 2010 FAI FF Finals at Lost Hills, Sept 24 thru 28. Participants should have received  Finals Bulletin 1 and 2 in the Team Selection Newsletters. If you have not received one and you entered this program or the last, contact AMA or your Team Selection Committee member.  Dead line for qualifying and entering is Aug 11.

We are now seeking timer help. While the Finals  is a flier-timer format, there is a need for a few additional timers. The greatest need is for Sat. and Sun,  Sept 25 and 26.  We would greatly appreciate.  We have  several options and incentives: 
A) Volunteers,those who will time without compensation other than our thanks and the enjoyment of being on the front line in all the action
B) Paid timers, get $100 day, requires timing all rounds during a day (14 rounds plus fly-offs), payment in cash at the end of the flying day.
C) Same as B) but donate the $100 to the Jr Team fund
D) Fill-in timers, available to the Timer Administrator to fill-in as needed-- mostly during the first rounds, last and flyoff rounds. Those timing 7  rounds get a Sierra Cup Banquet  (Sat, Oct 2 )ticket, 14 rounds or more 2 banquet tickets.

The timer incentives are open to all,  our foreign fliers are welcome also. The incentives are on a first ask, first receive basis.  Please contact me by email, let me know what days you can time and which option you like.
