Is there such a thing as a Gas Freeflight Trainer?
I am not new to freeflight model planes. I have been a freeflight model b
uilder for 50 years or so,.......but mostly rubber scale and an ocasional
P30. I like, and have built and flown controline planes also. When I wa
s a member of a general interest MC they had a "trainer" for neophytes. H
ow about with the gas freeflight segment of our hobby/sport?
Can anyone recommend a design or kit that would help me get into modern h
igh-tech gas freeflight? or a book or other publication? I have searched
the AMA and NFFS website for this kind of thing. I am a menber of both or
ganizations.
I like to build, and don't mind building a plane that would only last me
through the training period. Something that I could upgrade would be nice
though.
I like Gas engines also,.but only have a small collection of Cox 1/a jobs.

Empire State FF Championships

The Western New York Free Flight Society is proud to announce that the 34th
annual Empire State Free Flight Championships will be held at the Geneseo,
NY airfield on August 15-16-17. This is the same field where the Flying Aces
Club holds their annual national contests. $25 flies all events, or you can
enter one for $10 with $8 covering each additional one. AMA or MAAC licenses
are required. Trophies will be awarded through three places. Chase bikes are
allowed.
We have events for just about every taste. Here's the schedule:
Friday, August 15
A-B Classic Gas, B-C Nostalgia Gas, .020 Replica, Moffett Rubber, Old Time
Rubber, Classic Towline (straight tow only, no bunt), Diesel.
Saturday, August 16
1/2A-D Gas, 1/2A Classic Gas, A Nostalgia Gas, 1/4 A Nostalgia, Mulvihill
Rubber, Nostalgia Rubber/Wakefield, FAC OT Electric Gas Replica, FAC Embryo
Endurance, FAC Golden Age Scale, FAC Rubber Scale, Diesel, America's Cup:

Sunday, August 17
C-D Classic Gas, 1/2A Nostalgia Gas, Old Time Gas, P-30, Catapult Glider,
Diesel Flyoff, America's Cup: F1G, F1H, F1J.
There are two events for Juniors: P-30 and Catapult Glider. They can be
flown any day, but must be completed on the same day as begun.
Thirteen of our events qualify for National Cup points. Let me know if you
want the list, or any additional contest or lodging information.
