Roger,
Missed you at Eloy. Hope eveything is OK there.
John Nystedt is preparing complete results.
Basically:
F1A- Van Nest
F1B- Batiuk (probable record, 30g)
F1C- Poti (gearless)(4 of top 5 direct drive)
F1G- Wood (FAI Gypsy commuted from home)(19 entries)
F1H- Van Nest
F1J- G. Menanno
Based on 2001, these have 83% chance of becoming 2002 Am Cup Champ.
Weather was as advertised, allowing extended 1st rounds.
Otherwise:
1/4" ice on ROW pond allowed skids or wheels.
Bailey Archer put up Delta Dart max on edge of dust devil while brother Ryan
did 4 maxes in F1H with Martyn Cowley help.
Lynn Pulley went to collecto after posting 27maxes. Still had 3hr of
daylight and was still clean!
Free Continental Breakfast, Great Weather, Great People, Great Flying,
doesn't get much better than that.
Thanks to all,
H

Question to John:
What used Randy Archer to win Canada cup? And Evgueny Verbitsky to
place 2nd? And the others in the Fly-Off?
Thanks for the information.

Dear Tom, (re Blimp Hanger)
that sounds a fabulous venue. Not much use to me in London but thanks for
the offer and I hope someone in the US will take it up. I agree with you
about the launcher. Maybe Hank Cole would get involved as he designed a great
one. Having said that, If there is anything I can do from here I would be
delighted. Maybe suggest a test program or similar. I am having talks with
some British guys about doing something here but it would be ideal if anyone
involved were to work with the same set ups and try to get a world wide data
base with the various corrections used by everyone. The set test of a
standard model each time for a base line would be a good example of what I
mean.
Thanks for your interest and keep in touch if you have time etc.
Sincerely
Peter King

In the recent quest for accuracy in reporting F1C matters I would like to
mention that Mogle timers are $330.00 each including the start switch and
charging jack; not $350.00 as recently reported. I am prepared to supply
timers at $350 if that will increase their acceptance.
Thank you
Rod
GLIDE TESTS Update.

This is just to advise people, who have shown an interest in my Glide Test
Program, that I am still involved in sorting out various anomolies and bugs
in the program. The problems are mostly to do with the page that gives you
a weight to match a Re No and CL. The only way to sort out these anomolies
is to put in a large range of model cases etc. and check the reults, altering
the program from this information. I have made progress with sorting
things out but would like to advise any one interested that they should get
the latest up date before they make use of the program for conducting real
glide tests. Obviously, the more time I get the better will be the result,
so it would be better to leave things untill when you are ready to use it.
This is not to say that I will not send the current, improved version, out if
required, but just to make clear that work on the program is not yet complete
to my satisfaction. It is now, however, getting much closer to what I am
aiming for and when some real test results begin to come in, the program can
be refined even
more !!
Thanks again for all the interest you have shown so far !

Hi Roger (Simpson),
in my simple opinion you wrote everything down much better than I could do it.
I agree 100% to whar you have written down.
If the flyers would organize a WC (including geared models) beside an
offical WC (without geared models), I would compete without a gearbox in the
inoffical WC. I think a lot of people would do the same, because a
competition is a contest where the best take part with the best ideas.
Yours Gerd.

Just a little line about FAI. I fly F1J but think that IF THEY CAN'T RUN WITH
THE BIG DOGS THEN STAY ON THE FRONT PORCH. Nuf Said.
