Southwest FAI Challenge - Boulder City, NV

At the Maxmen Summer Bash last weekend there was some (rather lively)
discussion of a schedule change for the Southwest FAI Challenge in
Boulder City, Nevada. I have it down for Sept 29-30 but there was talk
that it's been changed to October. The America's Cup Calendar shows the
September dates. I meant to write down the new dates but didn't. Help??
Thanks,
John Pratt

Further to previous notifications, Gerry Le Vey reports that
accommodation is available at the Construction Engineering College as
follows:-
Single room bed and Breakfast, with TV, Tea making and en suite
facilities at Pounds 25 /person/night. Special arrangements may be possible
for couples, but at the same price.
A bar and bar meals will be available on Friday evening. Additionally,
trimming may be possible on Friday evening; the area is quite large, but
the ground surface is said to be 'rough', apart from a patch of grass
large enough for towing.
A meal on Saturday evening will be arranged in the old Officers Mess,
cost to be confirmed but approx Pounds 10.
Gerry is anxious that we make full use of these facilities to make it
worthwhile for the organisers.
A camp site is also available nearby, at Pounds 3.50 per person/night.
Invitations with full details will be dispatched in a few days to all
previous competitors.

Geez, I THOUGHT I was at Lost Hills on Saturday. Maybe retirement is
getting too much for me.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Dick Wood's America's Cup odyssey
almost came to an end buried in the sand at Camp Borden???
Also heard some rumblings that Hardy wasted all that money on a
rangefinder, when he already has what he needs with the depth gauge
painted on his tail booms.

Virus e-mails
=============
Normally I not make comment about computer virus issues.
This because many of the messages about Virusesn are themselves Hoxes.
However recently we have recieved a large number of short e-mail messages
some vaguely connected with free flight that all have an attachment
of about 150KBytes. These attachments have the file type of a MS windows/DOS
executable file i.e. bat, pif, etc These all containe a Windows
program that does bad .. e-mail related things. Looking at these attachments
will cause them to execute. I have not done this as knew what they were.
I am concerned that some you may also we getting these.
Virus wisdom
============
With respect tp the above item the virus program was joined
to a text message. By using some diagnostic software I looked at
a couple of these messages .. the one of note said
"That all mechanical problems cam be solved by Duct tape or WD40 -
if it should move adf does not - apply WD40
if it moved and should not - stick it with duct tape."

Roger,
Could you please put this into the next issue of SCAT, thanks
Does anyone in the scat community know of where I can get a diamond circular sa
w disk for a dremel which is greater than 22mm diameter?
The ideal diameter would be about 50mm, so that I can use the saw to cut the c
orrect dihedral angle for joining carbon wings together using a ji
Thanks a lot
