Thanks to Daryl for the report on the Speed flying activities.
I believe "crosspollenation" is the term used relating to creating
new plant species. It looks like this trio of fun-seekers were
successful with their efforts at cross breeding as well!
Congrats to them and especially Matt for getting all "wound up"
and then winning the event too!

Dear Roger,
May I ask You to send me any latest info regarding F1 WCh, I mean date,

Firstly this information is un-offical because the AMA , our national
Aeroclub is the offical source. Also while some organizer meetings
have been held no announcements have been made yest.
The exact date is not annouced but it will be in October 2001 at Lost Hills.
At that time of the year it is the best flying conditions at Lost Hills.
It will not rain. It will be quite hot. If you want to look up
weather conditions on the Internet and you cannot find Lost Hills,
try Wasco or Bakersfield. The thermal conditions
will be very challenging. The regular contest will a thermal contest. If
there is a fly off the next morning, it will be a performance event.
In the early morning at Lost Hills there is often an inversion layer
this makes for a very spectacular performance for F1B and F1C. F1A
cannot get above the layer. This was apparant in '93. When the F1A winner,
Mike Fanthan had a good time but not very spectacular. In F1B Andriukov
did almost 9 mintes and 2 F1C flyers made 10 easily. In the next round when the
inversion layer had gone they did not make the 12.
If you want to go to practice at Lost Hills. The California Invitational
contest will be held this the first weekend of October. This is best fall
contest at Lost Hills. It is going to be followed by the US team
selection contest and then the Sierra Cup. The Sierra Cup is
a World Cup Event but is held at Sacramento. The best spring contest
is the MaxMen International that is held in early February. This contest
is very popular with Europeans as they have been flying for some months and
want to come to Lost Hills to test their new models.
The WC Champs organizer will most likely be George Batiuk. George is the
Team Manager for the US Junior Team going to the upcoming Junior World
Champs and he is the organizer of the Team Selection contest. George
is an active F1B flyer.
I would expect the offical bulletins to start coming out in about
October of this year, this is a year before the event.]
Thanks
