America's Cup Results
=====================

The results of the 1997 America's Cup are posted on the SCAT Web site
and will be available shortly in Scatter. The top two place getters in F1H,
Martyn Cowley and Brian Van Nest tied with equal points, with Martyn
winning on the tie breaker. A first for the America's Cup ?

As a result of this close match we devrived a couple of laws and an
observation :

Van Nest's Laws
===============

1. The contest is not over until the last round has ended
and the last flyoff flight is down.

2. Nothing short of a max matters.

Cowley's Observation
====================

Never under-estimate the guy with the old Wakefield wings.

SCAT Annual Update
==================

Diligent Internet research by Pierre Brun found that the Shooting Event [ a
dog trial actually] is on the second Sunday of March . It would conflict
with the SCAT Annual . The Annual is being moved to the following
weekend, the 14 and 15 March .. details to follow. Remember this is a an
America's Cup event this year.

Max Men progress report
-----------------------

Reports indicate increased participation is year. Possibly reaching 200
contestants. Indications that over 10 people from the UK, the hard
charging Yugo team, the Germans, Austrians, Dutch, Belgians as well as
the usual group from the Ukraine and Russia.The Canadians are so local
by comparison that they hardly bear special mention !

Rumored that Ron Felix, F1B flyer from the East Coast wants to organize
another contest mid-week, between the Winter Classic and the 14 Rounder
to help people clock up minutes for Team Qualification.
