F1A day

Tail end of a tropical cylone caused extreemly
varied weather conditions. It rained
blew, was calm and the sun shone. The contest
was put on hold during the day but the wind dropped later and we were able
to complete the event. Victor Stamov flew well and coped with
the difficult conditions. Per Findahl placed second inspite of being
somewhat jet lagged. SCAT member Brian Van Nest was in the
running until the last round but dropped the last flight to let locals
Crump and Mc Garvey past.

F1B and F1C day

The day started well with only a moderated breeze.
The wind rose and the organizers
called a pause while the moved the flight line. It looked like
Anslermo Zeri's quest for top World Cup points
in F1B would be in vain when he dropped the first round
but he persevered and maxed all the rest while every
one else dropped letting him come out on top. Retriveing was
tough with the models going upto 3 km at the most windy
period. Beacuse of the delicate nature of the ground
and the farmer's wishes motorized retiveing was not
permitted. However most times the models went
in the directioon of the road so cars
were used to bring people back.

SCAT member Al Brush looked strong for most the contest but dropped,
I damaged my windy weather model and it took me a bit to get my
act together so was a little far down the field.

In F1C Verbitski had less trouble than anyone else and came
out the winner.

Seen and Heard at Omarama

It looks like Sky Kings intelligence was good as Verbitski showed up with
a geared F1C model. The was yet to be flown. It has 1 to 4
planetary gears. The motor and spinner turn at 29K . The prop
had 30 cm diamterer. Eugene told me that he want to use a F1B prop
:-) ! I expect that he will fly it later in the week as the weather
is expected to improve.

The European visitors established themselves as favorites
in the local pub. The barman quickly determined Eugene's favorite beer.

Stamov let it slip that local flyer Ivan Malkinsky was in fact
the KGB resident.
