Call for 2012 NFFS Symposium Papers!

F1B Wanted
I am looking for two F1B models for me and a friend, used or not but in
good shape. Vivchar's are preferred as the ones we have are from him, so
trying to keep standard. We have contacted Vivchar but replies are coming
weeks sometimes months later and we still have no quotation for the models
we need. Since next competition is in the end of abril I do not think we
will be able to get the models from the manufacturer. One winder with
torquemeter is also being needed
Me and my friend (Beto) are at Brazil so payment would have to be via

FFQ #42
FFQ #42 has just appeared, a few days late, due to the longer Christmas holidays of the printers, although its Digital Edition was released two weeks ago. In this edition we have tried to present a wide range of articles, from the technical to the very practical, not forgetting the interesting contest reports of Allard van Wallene, who tells his experiences of the fabulous Bern Eurofly last October, where competitors and weather joined in what he describes as the best he'd ever attended and competed. Giorgio Venuti presents an extremely detailed description of his #70 F1C design, a model that created such a stir at the last W/C in Embalse for its novel ideas. Michel Coviaux has created a unique F1G (Coupe) with a "central" propeller, located between wing and stab, this is his /Pousseur/ (Pushy Duck), a very unorthodox model that flies well and is described in an inimitable way, there will be more "central propeller" designs from his energetic pen in following issues of FFQ.
Craig Limber has built a series of very light and colourful Senators of great performance. He talks and details his procedures in his "Ultimate Keil Kraft Senators" article. Matt Gewain teaches us how to build strong and efficient Rohacell wings for hand launched and catapult gliders,in a well-illustrated article. On this topic, the eminently successful duo of Stan Buddenbohm and Ralph Ray discuss the use of wash-in wedges in the trim of HLG and CLG gliders.
Chris Stoddart continues his analysis of the techniques for scaling Free Flight designs for similar performance, looking now at half size Wakefields and scaled-down Gollywocks.
Harking to the past, I found an older (1987) article by Anselmo Zeri of riveting interest. Anselmo wrote for an Italian magazine on the new Russian developments in the F1B category that left the West far behind. His acute observations are still worth admiring. Finally, a new article with beautiful plan by Gerry Zeigenfuse, his FAIgo, a Nostalgia power design based on the /Pogo/ presented in the last FFQ.

A new batch of 1/8" and 3/16" are due to arrive 1/25/2012.
If good quality, I will ship some to Lost Hills ( only to those that e-mail
me their order).
I can maybe bring some of the new rubber in 1/6" and 3/32" , as these sizes
are stripped by me ,
the MM supply will be limited due to time constraints.

In 1987 The FAI World Championships were held in France. It was one of the most memorable World Championships
ever. The Wakefield event was decided in
the eleventh round on the seven minute max (rules back then had flyoff flights
increasing by one minute each round). It
would be the last "simple" Wakefield to win the Wakefield Cup. Robert
White of the United States of America, was the 1987 Wakefield World Champion. The model Bob flew in this contest was #22 is
now on display in the AMA Museum.
Due to a generous donation we are now offering the chance to
win the sister ship #23 that Bob also had ready as the back up model in that
World Championships. The ship is the
famous and well documented twin fin in original condition of Bob’s color scheme
of red and white.
The proceeds of this raffle will go to benefit the 2012
Junior FAI Free Flight Team that is head to Slovenia this summer. Please support these young competitors chase
their dreams.
