I'm not sure you are seeking info on an E-36 timer or a F1Q timer. My E-36 timer does not have RDT. I have two F1Q timers, both with RDT. RDT is asserted with a logic low signal from the RDT receiver. I believe that the Bauer receiver, as well as all the Europe-made receivers, all work to this way. I don't know the specified range of any of these radio systems, but I would be curious to know, as well as their cost and repair policy. Personally, I use an RDT made from off-the-shelf R/C components. I use a 2.4 Ghz Spektrum DX7 Tx and a Spektum AR6100 Rx. There are other brands of 2.4 Ghz radios as well. I use my system only for test flying, or to save the model if something goes wrong in the early part of the flight. I think the range is about 1 mile, but no guarantees, so I would not use it in in situations involving extended maxes and very long distance flights.

Radio D/T Note

Both Ken Bauer's Airtek radio D/T Unit and Allard van Wallene's assert DT with a logic low. That is way that I have been doing it for years with the Magic timers. Ken is in the final stages of testing with the latest Airtek unit. This runs on a much higher frequency than the first units so the antenna is much shorter. They have been sucessfully tested with Red and Black Magic timers. This is a high performance unit intended for serious comptetion flying. My understanding is that Ken will go into production shortly., I'm guessing that at the moment he is busy preparing for the World Champs in June.
The original Danish RadioDT unit that went with the Koster/Torlief Jensen timer was based on modified commercial R/C equipment. This would probably be a problem in many countries. It is no longer made. Victor Stamov and his customers use Airtek Radio DT from Ken. There may be other manufacturers too.

1953 Wakefield Flyoff re-enactment - third try

The last two attempts to re-enact the 1953 Wakefield Trophy flyoff, using replicas of the three finalist's models, have been thwarted (!) by weather or health issues. We will try again at the US Free Flight Champs, Memorial Day weekend, at Lost Hills.
Models of Joe Foster's "Power-Weight", Hugh O'Donnell's "Maxie", and Eliseo Scotto's "X-5" will fly again in recognition of the first-ever Wakefield flyoff. The flight will take place at 10:00 am Saturday May 26 following the Gollywock Mass Launch and the Twin Pusher events. Back-up date in the event of bad weather will be Sunday May 27. Third time lucky?
