Hi Roger. Well, glider day is history, and I am so tired.
It stormed most of the night last night, and nobody got
much sleep. We woke up today to rain and wind, which
continued for the whole day. Actually, the rain stopped
about noon, but the wind increased. 2ö mph steady, with
gusts to 25.The Wake and power guys are to be commended
for an excellent day of chasing in very tough conditions.
Our guys had some trouble with the wind and rain, and it
cost us in the team position. We ended up 12th team. Steve
Spence had a very good day, making it into the flyoff and
doing 4:öö in the first flyoff flight. He ended up 6th.
Brian missed 2 flights and ended up 47th. Jon also missed
2, and was 7öth. There was a total of 1ö8 flyers from 38
countries. If you consider that these 1ö8 are the best in
the world, and only 12 made the flyoff, it will give you
some idea of the conditions. Wake tomorrow. More then. gb

Anyone from Quebec to Canada Cup?

I'll be moving to Montreal (for one year) on mid. August. Good oppurtunity
to attain e.g. the Canada Cup in August/September... Is anyone from Quebec
going to the competition - I might be interested to join for the trip, as
I hardly have time to buy me a car before that. Naturally I'll share the
expenses. Also, I'm looking for somebody to share a hotel room with me
during the competition...

As my father used to tell me as he was refusing to let me use the family
car, "but it doesn't hurt to ask", so here it goes. I would like to get
transportation for my XR 100 in the center barn, from Lost Hills to Sacramento
and return for the two contests in October after the Livotto. If anyone might
be coming north for those contests, has room and will put up with the hassle,
please let me know. I will try to make it worth your while.

A needed correction.
My MMM buddies took offense at my unilaterally sticking the gruesome name
"Death Valley" on such an innocently sloped area North of the launch site.
They didn't approve of the gruesome connotations it conveyed...not good for
our public image.
I agree. I was out of line. Truth was I was always jealous of the colorful
term, "Isacson's Hole," given to a minor Devil's Triangle Clone area
Northwest of the famous Taft site. Colorado deserves to be colorful also, so
my thinking went. Wrong.
the area in question has now been renamed "Delightful Valley' ... Where one
can admire the beautiful flora and watch the Deer and the Antelope play
underneath one's cavorting model.
Lee's comments about recovering from his wounds might have some wondering if
he hadn't been assaulted by an angry group of Catapult and HLG flyers upset
at him taking home the big bucks for the second time.
Not so. The CD had a firm hand on things and quickly cooled off the unruly
mob of sore losers.
Lee got banged up earlier when he took a bad tumble on the turf from a
tow-launch gone bad. His ribs were hurting enough to force him to drop out.
The injury was expected to effect his rubber pulling abilities also, but he
was able to rise up and stretch out to the occasion. Lee was also able to
skillfully field a fork at that evening's banquet.
