Hello Rob,

A6 is not a rule book event so the requirements vary some by region. I
personally do not fly the event so I am not up on the specific rules, but
can sure point you to some resources to get the answer.

I would suggest that you sign up for the Indoor list on Yahoogroups. It is
the happening spot for the indoor enthusiast with a good majority of the
active indoor fliers at least skimming the group. You can access the group
and sign up at:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/indoor/
or you can join by sending an e-mail to:

I would also suggest you visit my site at www.IndoorDuration.com and you
will find lots of helpful info along with subscription information for
Indoor News and Views (INAV). INAV is an indoor only newsletter that has
been in existence for over 40 years. There was a plan of the current record
holding A6 two issues back. You should also check out
www.IndoorFreeFlight.com which is another site that will give you a lot of
good details.

Hope that helps,
Tim

[In our hurry to get the last issue out we overlooked John's
excellent words ... our applogies ]

It rained off and on all week in Arizona, but when the time came, the
rain and wind stopped and the flying began. Those who chose to stay home
due to the weather missed a great contest! We were greeted on Saturday
with a mostly overcast sky, very mild wind, and a wet field that made
towing and retrieval interesting early in the day. The changing weather
conditions throughout the day, made for a day of "difficult air" with
only 5 of the 16 competitors being able to max out in all of the initial
7 rounds. F1A saw only Mike McKeever, Martyn Cowley and Lee Hines making
it to the fly off, with Mike besting Martyn for first place by ONE
SECOND in the 8th round. Jozef Kosciarz was the only one the of 6 F1B
flyer to max out . an indication of the difficulty to "pick air"
throughout the day. Randy Archer was the only competitor in F1C, but
remained "clean" throughout the 7 rounds. By the end of the day, the
weather continued its quest out of town, and we were treated with mostly
clear skies.

Sunday dawned with some surface fog, clear sky and an almost dry flying
filed. While a max was difficult to obtain on Saturday, they were in
abundance on Sunday with about half of the competitors remaining "clean"
for the initial 5 round, including all 5 of the F1H flyers! Alan
Peterson took high honors in F1G (9 flyers) after a fly-off with Bob
Tymchek. F1H saw all 5 of the competitors reaching the fly-off, and the
final determination of the winner not evident until the 8th round. The
tables were turned from Saturday, with Martyn Cowley taking1st place
and Mike McKeever in 2nd place. Ryan Archer placed third competing with
a "straight tow" airplane that pitted his (with a little help from dad)
"thermal picking" ability against the mobility, and the ability to pick
the time of launch, inherent in the circle tow models flown by the other
competitors . Great Job Ryan!

We had two junior flyers that greatly added to my overall enjoyment of
the contest. As noted above, Ryan Archer placed third in F1H, and we
also had Taylor Burrows competing in F1G against 8 other contestants.
Taylor remained clean through the first 4 rounds, but unfortunately
suffered a mechanical problem in the 5th round, and was not able to move
on to the fly-off. I was impressed with the maturity of both of these
young men, and their unselfish willingness to help the contest
organizers in any way they could. To their fellow competitors, thanks
for all of the consideration you showed to these to young men!

I want to thank Elmer Nelson and Peter Brocks for helping make this
contest happen, and a special THANKS to all of the competitors, who
continue to make my job as the Contest Director, an easy one!

-- John Nystedt, CD--

Mr SCAT,

Gentlemen, gentlemen, do not fret. 'Flies 'R Us, Jimmy'
had anticipated the US govenment stockpiling shedloads
of sh-t during a potential war scenario and took
prevantative action. It's not true that a famous burger
supplier is closing outlets down due to falling sales
but to redirect these pimeval nutrients to the
protected breeding grounds of the Rum Midge. Stocks are
safe ! Furthermore, in conjunction with Pete King the
new 'Fly fly' macro will be available as an extra track
on his new CD "Come fly with me" which will be in the
shops before Christmas.

I must also add that rumours abound that Biggles is
using a top-secret Ukranian research programme to
develop artificial nuclear powered self lifting midge
replicants in an attempt to regain a place on the US
fly team. I hope that the SCAT portable DNA testing kit
will be used to stop this abuse of the rules quickly.

Tan Update

The latest batch of 1/8" Tan Sport ( Nov. 02) looks very interesting and
will be sent out for test this week.

Our factory has advised us that they have identified two formulas that
seem promising for Tan Super Sport.
These two batches of rubber are due to be received and tested by the
end of January. If they looks good and there is interest I will have
some for sale at Max Men for international competitors.

By this notice - We are requesting any international fliers planning on
attending Max Men, who would like Super Sport rubber to notify us of
their interest. Thanks, FAI Model Supply - John Clapp
